The “golf for biodiversity” labels:

With a third of the surface being devoted to natural habitats, golf is undoubtedly one of the sports with the strongest interaction with the environment. Responsible management of the course and green spaces is therefore a priority. Aware of the potential and richness in biodiversity present on golf courses, the French Golf Federation has joined forces with the National Museum of Natural History (MNHN) to support environmental initiatives, by labeling the commitments of golf courses entitled "Golf Program for Biodiversity ”in order to improve knowledge, management and conservation of biodiversity within golf courses.

Three different labels exist:

  • Bronze level aims to provide initial knowledge of biodiversity through a first inventory.
  • The Silver level proposes to go further in the inventory work and the creation of favorable recommendations for biodiversity.
  • Gold level concretizes the commitment of the clubs through a measurement of the effects produced by the implementation of recommendations, the conduct of awareness-raising actions and the sharing of experiences.

The Bluegreen Tours-Ardrée golf course: a green course

Designed by Olivier Brizon, this site known for its conviviality and its natural beauty opened its doors in 1988. The Golf Bluegreen Tours-Ardrée is located on a 70 hectare estate, wooded and planted with century-old cedars and water obstacles thanks to a stream that crosses the course in its entire length. A few minutes from its sumptuous châteaux and in the heart of the Loire Valley, the surrounding nature is a real breath of fresh air.

Since February 2020, the FFGolf has validated all the key stages in obtaining the Silver Label. Indeed, in recent months, a spotlight has been put on birds, insects, amphibians and flora. The Golf Bluegreen Tours-Ardrée wishes to maintain its close relationship with biodiversity by raising awareness among young people at the golf school and through multiple actions such as the installation of insect hotels.

Faced with the extraordinary development and improvement potential in favor of biodiversity, Bluegreen teams have implemented several actions to promote biodiversity:

  • reduction of fertilizer inputs for a reasoned maintenance of lawns
  • restoration of the banks of water bodies to develop riverine vegetation
  • expansion of wasteland and meadow areas
  • introduction of extended mowing rotations

All of its actions go hand in hand with controlling the carbon footprint thanks to the fleet of carts made up 100% of electric carts and low consumption lighting.

The Golf Bluegreen Tours-Ardrée joins the 11 other Bluegreen golf courses awarded a Label from the federal program "Golf for biodiversity":
