The Englishman who concluded an exceptional season on the Legends Tour by winning the MCB Tour Championship Mauritius (-15) at Constance Belle Mare Plage in Mauritius. The best Frenchman Jean-François Remesy finished 4th in the event.

peter baker won the general ranking of the season in style by making a birdie on the last par 5 of the 18th, thus ensuring a victory by one stroke in advance during the MCB Tour Championship disputed at Constance Belle Mare Beach, MAURITIUS.

An exciting day took place on the course Legend, where the title and price John Jacobs, rewarding the player of the year of the first MCB Road to Mauritius were contested until the end of the last hole of the 2023 Legends Tour season. Peter Baker added to the intensity of the moment, a second shot with his exceptional 5 wood on the last hole, a par-5, thus establishing the conditions for the decisive birdie.

“I hit a good drive on 18 and saw Patrik miss a putt on the green that I thought was probably for birdie. I knew we were tied, so I knew it was a birdie I needed to win the tournament. We play to win tournaments and I've probably never hit a better five-wood than that, it was over. I'm really happy with this finish.

Baker called on his good friend and former Masters champion Ian woosnam throughout the year: “He’s really supported me and we talk a lot. He's direct, as you can imagine, which is great, that's how we are. He really encouraged me throughout the year. I also received a lot of help from Michael Welch back home in Shropshire. You need this support. It's a tough match, so I really appreciate all the help I've received.

Former Ryder Cup player Peter Baker and Adilson da Silva started the day tied, one shot behind the leader, and both had a chance to win the title and top the MCB Road to Mauritius . With so much at stake and many other players vying for the tournament, Baker made a brilliant final push with four birdies over the final six holes to cross the finish line.

Three rounds of 67 and a winning total of -15 were enough for Baker to claim his fourth trophy of the year, following the Irish Legends, JCB Championship and Staysure PGA Seniors Championship.
