On the island of Majorca, the Pula Golf Resort combines pleasure for the eyes and the pleasure of the game thanks to an 18-hole course of international standard with the Mediterranean as a backdrop.

It's one of Rafael Nadal's favorite playgrounds, not far from Manacor where the Spanish champion hits other slightly bigger balls with even more frenzy. In the heart of a large wild valley located in the eastern part of the island of Majorca, Pula has everything of a golf haven, barely disturbed on a few holes by the proximity of a little frequented road. Born in 1995 and redesigned ten years later by a certain José Maria Olazabal in order to accommodate (several times) a stage of the European circuit, this par 72 of 6246 meters offers undeniable attractions.

Players looking for a challenge will appreciate an extremely varied course where no two holes are alike and where the par 3s are almost impregnable fortresses. Like the 8, a formidable challenge of 200 meters (white balls) headwind, with prohibition to drift on the left where the water obstacle seems so welcoming. Two large lakes and a river spice up at least seven holes, or even eight if we take into account the dry barranque of n°3, a par 4 in straight dogleg which will give some shivers to the most daring of drivers. Birdies possible (and desired) on the par 5s, relatively short but well defended by double-plateau greens, one of the local peculiarities.

Players sensitive to the scenic aspect will wait for the second act to open their eyes wide. As you gain height, the return offers some breathtaking views of the surrounding hills bordered by a Mediterranean which puts on a show for the first time as you approach the green of 12. The departure of 14 and 16 (the signature hole), as well as the green of 17 are the other scenic slaps of the Pula golf course. The possibility of filling your water bottle with spring or sparkling water, a small chalet allowing you to eat halfway through the course, as well as a two-level driving range with a trackman are the other little extras of one. of the most beautiful 18 holes on the island.

ONE NIGHT, EVEN MORE IF AFFINITIES

As the name suggests, the Pula Golf Resort is not just a simple 18 holes. The adjoining hotel, which originates from an old mansion built in 1581, has 31 rooms and suites in a style that is as elegant as it is rustic. The opportunity to prolong the pleasure with an outdoor swimming pool (not far from the start of 1), a gym and a pretty spa offering a massage service. The restaurant (S'era de Pula) located above the club house overlooks the first and last holes of the course and offers high quality Mediterranean cuisine. And for good reason: most of the products, including bread and oil, are homemade and come from the 6 m² organic orchard and vegetable garden adjacent to the hotel.

AN ECO RESPONSIBLE GOLF

Nominated for the 2022 World Golf Awards in the category of “the best ecological golf facility in the world”, the Pula Golf Resort wants to be avant-garde in this field. The course was one of the first in Europe to set up an irrigation system that recycles the water used for the maintenance of the greens. Likewise, the hotel strives to generate more resources than it consumes, thus becoming the first Competitive Regenerative Hotel (CRH) in Spain backed by a golf course. In addition to removing plastic bottles and replacing its entire lighting system with LED bulbs, the Resort is preparing to install several solar panels.
