Within its golf courses, Bluegreen sets up the virtuous circle of water: store, reduce, recycle and reuse.

The golf courses constitute vast islands of greenery of several tens of hectares each in the heart of the territories. In addition to the fact that they very often represent real ramparts against the artificialization of land, they can contribute to the ecological continuity between the environments - sometimes classified - which surround them.

Water makes up about 90% of the plant tissue in grasses, which means watering is essential for golf courses. Responsible water management practices aim to optimize its use. By limiting the volumes of water withdrawn to what is strictly necessary, by watering better and less, while looking for alternatives to the use of drinking water, Bluegreen maintains a virtuous circle concerning water management.

This desire for improvement and efficiency is anchored at Bluegreen with the implementation of an investment program and real commitments on all the golf courses of the network.

The benefits for the planet:

  • The water savings generated go up to 30%.
  • Pumping of water is improved at convenient times to avoid overconsumption.
  • Watering aid tools have been put in place so that each cubic meter of water is used in the most efficient way possible.

The advantages for golf users:

  • Overwatering areas are removed.
  • The course gains in quality.
  • The budgets devoted to watering can now be invested in other items (renewal of the machine park, renovation of bunkers, departures, practice, etc.).

Bluegreen Sainte-Maxime golf course uses wastewater recycling

What is the source of the water used for watering your golf course?

“The watering is done largely with water from RÉUT

(Reuse of Treated Wastewater) or with rainwater.

We are the only golf course in PACA to use this system as a main resource. Every cubic meter of water must be used well, resulting in specific conditions of use. "

Why did you focus on the water issue?

“We had to find an alternative watering solution to respond to the problems of major summer droughts in 2006. We worked with the Town Hall of Sainte-Maxime to be able to deliver the water from the treatment plant located 3 km from the golf. This system induces more mechanical operations and therefore more labor, but it is important to preserve the water resource. "
