Shanshan Feng (Chinese: 冯珊珊; pinyin: Feng Shān Shān, pronunciation in Mandarin: [fə̌ŋ ʂəŋ ʂəŋ]; born August 5, 1989) is a professional Chinese golfer who plays on the American LPGA tour.
She is the first player from China to become a member of the LPGA, which she joined in 2008. Feng has three wins on the circuit, including the 2012 LPGA Championship, a major title, in which she toured a bogey-67 the final round to win by two shots. She is the first Chinese player to win a major LPGA tournament, as well as the first player from mainland China (male or female) to win a major championship. Her best result in 16 previous majors was related to the 22nd at the 2012 Kraft Nabisco Championship. With this victory, she moved from 50th to 10th place in the world women's golf ranking.
The first years
Feng was born in Guangzhou and started playing golf at the age of 10 at the request of her father, who worked at the golf association in their hometown.
While still an amateur, Feng tied for ninth place in the final LPGA qualifying tournament in December 2007 to win a place on the LPGA tour in 2008.
