Historic week in Florida, Scottie Scheffler becomes the first player in the history of the 5th major to retain his Players Championship title. Yet starting from sixth position, Scottie Scheffler ignited the tournament with a wedge shot home at 4 for eagle then six birdies at the end of the game. Installed as leader in the clubhouse thanks to a 64 (-8) and a total of -20, Scheffler will not be caught and will resist the attacks of his opponents.

Thanks to this victory, he made Players Championship history by becoming the first golfer to retain his title at Sawgrass. This is his second victory in two weeks. This new success allows him to increase his lead in the world rankings, which he has dominated for many weeks now!

The last games will have tried everything to hang on to Scheffler's -20. Xander Schauffele was in the lead for a long time this Sunday before stumbling at 14 and 15 with two bogeys. A last chance was offered to him after planting the flag on the legendary par 3 of the 17th but his putter decided otherwise by sending his ball to the left of the hole.

Brian Harman also tried at 18 but his last chance missed the hole. There was only one man left, Wyndham Clark, who was thought to be buried before the 16th. The winner of the 2023 US Open dropped darts at the end of the day allowing him to score birdies at the 16th and 17th. He left himself a chance at 18 after two very good shots. Helped by his caddy, Clark took his time to adjust the sights on this last putt. Unfortunately for him and under the screams of the crowd, this final putt decided to go around the hole leaving Clark with a bitter taste and running Scottie Scheffler.

Solid performance from young Swede Ludvig Aberg. He, who played his first Players Championship, finished in 8th place and moved to ninth in the world rankings.
