The French Golf Federation and Garmin® have recently concluded a technical agreement to provide various equipment such as rangefinders, measuring tools and radars dedicated to golf, with the aim of improving the performance of young players and helping them to reach the Top 20 in the world.

Garmin® becomes a technical partner of ffgolf

A PARTNERSHIP THAT MAKES SENSE

Pascal Grizot, President of the French Golf Federation:

« Performance is never due to chance! it is the result of a complex combination of work, talent, self-sacrifice, will, but also data and measurement tools. Garmin, leader in this field, was the logical and obvious partner of the ffgolf in this quest. We are happy to welcome them among our technical partners and to be able to use this data to further improve the performance of our athletes. »

"There is a real desire on the part of ffgolf to create a Performance Center and to support the young generation to the highest level,Explain Jean-Luc Cayla, Performance Director within the federation. With this in mind, I contacted Garmin, which was immediately in favor of a partnership. » An approach unanimously welcomed by the equipment manufacturer. “We did not hesitate for a second, indicate Romain Fontaine, Outdoor Sports Trade Marketing Manager at Garmin. Initially, the ffgolf asked us more for our cardio tools, which are essential for the physical preparation of athletes. We said to ourselves that we had to go further. Consider bigger. And allow trainers to be equipped with the brand's latest measurement tools. »

For ffgolf, the objective is clear: bring its players back to the World Top 20. “And Garmin can help us do that,” emphasizes Jean-Luc Cayla. “For us, it is the major technical actor towards which it was legitimate to turn. Their products perform reliably and are continuously improved. »

REACH THE WORLD TOP 20

To reach the World Top 20, Jean-Luc Cayla will therefore now rely on the brand's products which allow monitoring and detailed analysis of the physiological data of each athlete.

“We see Garmin tools as analysis tools but also for their educational dimension. We are going to help young people to become more professional by educating them in better management of their bodies. Recovery, nutrition and sleep data will allow our coaches to empower them and better prepare them. When you tell a young athlete that it's important to drink… he shouldn't wait until he's thirsty to hydrate, because it's already too late. And we know that a dehydrated athlete loses performance potential. The same is true for all the factors that influence performance. We have to apprehend them long before they become limiting”

These young people are very dependent on technology. Jean-Luc Cayla confirms this. “They love it…and immediately embrace the technology tools that help them better understand our readiness programs. Validated by the data, they are better accepted. The data reinforces the meaning they give to training and generates confidence”

“Jean-Luc Cayla wants to enable the elites of the French teams and the centers to work with continuous and precise monitoring. The high level is the attention to detail », specifies Romain Fontaine. The Performance Director nods. “There is no high level performance without monitoring. To accurately determine the right work intensity, the right training volumes, it is necessary to have a maximum of measurements. The dates provide benchmarks. They allow us to be more precise. To individualize the programs. Simply to provide better support. »

The Garmin endowment includes Approach Z82 Rangefinders, including Raphaël Jacquelin, Garmin ambassador for several years, " never stopped praising the merits », S62 measurement tools, Approach R10 radars and Forerunner 255 for their physiological analysis capabilities.

A WIN/WIN PARTNERSHIP

For Garmin, this rapprochement with the high level of golf is considered "very important". “We are a high-tech brand, our products are of high quality, Garmin employees are passionate about sports recalls Romain Fontaine. “Therefore, if we can help the French federations and athletes to reach the highest level, in all humility of course, it will be extremely rewarding for the brand, well beyond the business aspect. » He pursues. “Furthermore, we take the opportunity to work closely with golfers to continuously provide them with innovative products that will help them improve their game.”

"We see this collaboration as a real intelligent relationship", supports Jean-Luc Cayla. “We have already discussed adding new features to the Approach Z82 rangefinder. I like the idea of sharing our vision of the golf market for future developments. We are very excited about the establishment of this partnership. »
