This great country (twice France), cannot be visited at once!

For this reason The South African Drives will settle in a sedentary way in a region of the country and will offer you a different itinerary each year.

For 2019, it is a homecoming of the Pro-Am that we have chosen to orchestrate in the superb tropical region of Kwazulu-Natal, south of Durban.

There, between the sugar cane fields and the immensity of the beaches of the Indian Ocean, you will discover some sumptuous golf courses which will be your playgrounds during this beautiful week of doubles competition.

So, we invite you to discover the program, to form your team with the partner of your choice and to join us very quickly for this first edition. "

Discovering Kwazulu-Natal

South African drives: Voyages Golfissimes puts South Africa within drive range! The province of Kwazulu-Natal is probably the most diverse in South Africa.

The magnificent coastline, from north to south of Durban, offers splendid panoramas on the Indian Ocean and its immense beaches. The city of Durban is shared between districts of very colonial inspiration and the important activity of the port which is the most important in Africa.

The south coast, where Selborne is located, in the small coastal town of Pennington is a very peaceful residential site in the heart of an area where golf is one of the foremost activities with flagships such as Selborne, Umdoni and more. south, Wild Coast and San Lameer.

Among the other possibilities offered by the region, fishing, cage diving with sharks, shopping, discovering the Zulu culture.

Air transport with Emirates

For this trip, we have selected Emirates which offers a very good connection to reach Durban without having to re-check baggage.

The excellent service of the Emirates company and the stopover in Dubai will be all assets to make the trip more pleasant. For those participants who wish, it is quite possible to organize a stopover of 1 or more days in Dubai, on the outward or return trip.

The hotel industry

Selborne Golf Estate:

Located just over an hour south of Durban, it is in a colonial "So British" atmosphere that you will experience during this stay in Selborne.

The brick mansion completely renovated in 2015 distills an elegant and warm atmosphere where you immediately feel "at home".

The rooms also renovated in 2015 are located in the manor house and in the adjacent lodges and enjoy a very beautiful surface with studied decoration and optimal comfort.

The beautiful swimming pool, the Spa and the beach club will allow you to make the most of your moments of relaxation and after-golf.

The restoration of an excellent level and the warm bar are all assets for your well-being during this first edition of the Drives of South Africa.

Golf courses

Selborne:

A real tropical garden with acid colors, Selborne is always impeccably maintained and will always give you intense pleasure that will suit players of all levels. The views of the Ocean, the mischievous monkeys and some Par 3 that remind us of Augusta National characterize this very endearing course which is still among the top 100 golf courses in South Africa.

Wild CoaSt Country Club:

It is here that the 1st Pro-Am of South Africa was born in 2003; this Robert Trent Jones route offers a superb panorama of the Indian Ocean and the always perfect maintenance systematically maintains Wild Coast among the highest ranked courses in the country (16th in 2018). If the wind blows, Wild Coast can be a formidable course but will always give you maximum pleasure.

Umdoni:

During the second round played in scramble, you will discover the pleasant course of Umdoni Park (ranked 86th by Golf Digest), located almost opposite Selborne. The first 9 holes dominate the beaches of Pennington and make you think of some golf courses in the south of England, while the return will take you into a dense tropical forest. It will be a lovely discovery to join this lovely journey of members who will give you a warm welcome during dinner at the clubhouse.

San Lameer:

Particularly hilly and relatively narrow, San Lameer is a difficult golf course whose fairways revolve around a very dense forest. Designed by the famous South African architect, Peter Matkovitch, it was inaugurated in 1992 and is in 59th position in the country's golf courses.

Durban Country Club:

For the penultimate tour of the Drives of South Africa, you will enter one of the temples of South African golf, the Durban Country Club (ranked 2nd in the country by Golf Digest) and in the Top 100 worldwide. This great championship course, at the gates of the city of Durban is one of the most elegant in South Africa. The colonial architecture of the clubhouse, the very classic and timeless design of this long course and the views of Durban and the football world cup stadium will be a beautiful theater for this penultimate day.
