With a year late following the pandemic, it is finally time to return to the Ryder Cup.

The European and American teams will compete on the Whistling Straits course for three days. Team USA will try to take over the Ryder Cup acquired in France by Europe.

Now three years after Europe's victory at National Golf in France, the top twelve European players and the top twelve American players will meet at Whistling Straits to compete in the 43rd edition of the Ryder Cup.

This course has hosted the USPGA three times, the last time in 2015 when Jason Day won.

The two teams will face off for three days under the captains of Padraig Harrington for Europe and Steve Stricker for the United States.

Playing on even years during the twentieth century, the competition is now played on odd years following the delay of the 2001 edition, which was to take place a few days after the attacks of September 11.

Of the nine editions that have taken place since 2002, Europe has emerged victorious seven times. She has always won the cup on her home soil, but in American territory she has two wins for two losses. The last victory in the United States dates from 2012, during the comeback of Medinah, closed by the putt of Martin Kaymer.

As often, the Americans present a team which is placed in favorites, with almost all the players being in the world top 20. Despite this favorite status, this American team has six rookies. Among them is Collin Morikawa, already two-time winner in major at the age of 24, who will play his first Ryder Cup.

Europe will count among others John Rahm, winner of the US Open and world number 1, as well as the most capped player Lee Westwood who will participate in his eleventh Ryder Cup.

The European team being the title holder, it will be enough to reach 14 points to keep the title. The US team will need 14,5 points to win.

Week schedule :

  • Friday September 24: 4 foursomes and 4 fourballs
  • Saturday September 25: 4 foursomes and 4 fourballs
  • Sunday September 26: 12 singles.
