After Ayaka Furue's coronation last week, Japan is once again honored in Scotland thanks to Hinako Shibuno who takes charge of this AIG Women's Open. The Japanese returns a card of 65 (-6) and settles on the leader's chair at Muirfield. She is one stroke ahead of Nelly Korda and two strokes over Gaby Lopez and Louise Duncan.

Céline Boutier ranks first in France in 5th position with a card of 68 (-3). She signs two bogeys for five birdies to place herself three shots away from the leader. Céline Boutier has had a string of good rounds of golf in Scotland after her fine performance last week. We recall that she played four times under 70 to finish second in the Trust Golf Women's Scottish Open. World number 2 Minjee Lee also plays -3 and places herself alongside the Frenchwoman.

Nelly Korda, world number 3, plays under par on her first day. With a card of -1, she is 13th.

Perrine Delacour enters a card in the par for her first day. With three birdies for three bogeys, she ranks 26th.

Jin Young Ko, the world number 1, will have missed her day with a card of +5. She is 103rd.

Céline Herbin had a more difficult day than her compatriots with six bogeys and a double bogey for two birdies. She ranks third in France and is 118th in the ranking at +6.
