South of Casablanca, the Mazagan golf course is a small jewel carved on the edge of the Atlantic by Gary Player and backed by one of the best resorts in Morocco. With a lawn, Platinum Paspalum, perfectly suited to recycled water.

It is one of the most scenic golf courses on the African continent. The Mazagan links gently undulate along the Atlantic, like a mermaid with her skin tanned by the Moroccan sun. On the horizon, the old city of El Jadida, fortified by the Portuguese at the beginning of the XVIe century, almost seems to have been built to protect the beautiful ... Because this par 72 with exquisite shapes, which faithfully follows the outline of the dunes (created with local sand) and the topography of the land, is not easily conquered. With a length of almost 7000 meters of the back tees, it is indeed the longest 18 holes of the country. The fairways are certainly wide, but the almost non-existent pre-rough and the witches' claws - those graceful pink creeping plants that form a dense carpet - voracious. Not to mention the capricious breeze of the Atlantic, which in bad days can even salt your scorecard.

But whatever. "Have fun, get your family involved and learn to play with the wind", such is the advice of Gary Player, who signed this little gem. Mazagan is above all a postcard and a memorable day of golf, like the end of the course and in particular holes 15, 16 and 18, where the ocean keeps a close eye on your smallest skids. A sea that serves as a backdrop to your stroll with clubs in hand since it invites itself to the board on all the holes, except the 3.

Golf of the XXIe century, Mazagan also incorporates environmental constraints. The greens are billiards covered with Platinum Paspalum, a resistant grass that supports the salinity of seawater, brackish wells in the region and recycled water. Its irrigation and maintenance therefore weigh very little on the site's water resources. Finally, the wild plants displaced for the development of the golf course were replanted in order to better resist the erosion caused by the prevailing winds.

Initiated by Sol Kerzner, the South African magnate in particular behind the Sun City complex in his country, this luxury resort opened its doors in 2009 after 21 months of work involving no less than 3800 workers. Built on a gentle slope on 250 hectares of virgin land, on the edge of a 7-kilometer beach, the Mazagan Beach Golf Resort looks like a real medina, with its ocher-colored walls and green-tiled roofs originating from Fez.

All the cuisines of the world are on the menu in the resort's 13 restaurants. Special mention for the famous tagines, pastilla with seafood and couscous with 7 vegetables from Morjana, the restaurant-lounge open in the evening.

An introduction to ancestral Moroccan beauty secrets is offered to you in a sumptuous spa: scrub with black soap and Kiss (the traditional Moroccan glove), massage with argan oil on the hot marble table, hammam with scent of eucalyptus and discovery of excellent local natural products from the Nectarome brand. Among the emblematic treatments: the "exfoliation with desert sand and sea salts" ends with a delicious massage with rehydrating essential oils, to be chosen according to the state of mind of the moment (need for relaxation, energy or harmony).

The only casino 200 km away (the closest being located in Marrakech and Tangier), the Mazagan Beach & Golf Resort casino is considered one of the most beautiful in North Africa. If the odds turn in your favor, it will perhaps allow you to make your golfing stay even more unforgettable.
