The Engadin Golf Club not only has a fascinating story to tell, but also the fact that the golf club is home to two different and very different golf courses, located one kilometer apart and managed by a single organization, Golf Engadin St. Moritz (www.engadin-golf.ch), sets it apart from most traditional golf clubs.

The 125-year-old Samedan course is an ancient link-like park that runs along the flat valley floor, winding through streams and characterized by wide fairways flanked by giant larches while its younger sister in Zuoz-Madulain, which opened in 2003, offers difficult elevation changes, rolling fairways bordered by meadow flowers and receptive greens that weave along the mountain side and between pine forests.

Located on one of the highest grounds in the country and in a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Samedan and Zuoz offer stunning views of the towering Alpine mountains and many charming villages in the Engadine Valley.

To mark the 125th anniversary and ensure an unforgettable year at the club, Golf Engadin St Moritz is organizing a series of golf events during the summer and organizing two exhibitions to showcase the club's unique history.

Preparations for the anniversary began in 2016 when the club decided to plant 125 larches on the Samedan and Zuoz courses. Along with a few of the existing larches older than Samedan, 125 club members sponsored the planting of a single larch each to secure the future of both courses and their characteristic larch populations. This sustainability project will be recognized at the anniversary tournament on August 1 when the mixed quartets are played, just like 125 years ago. A birthday dinner will be held that evening at the famous Badrutt's Palace Hotel in St. Moritz.

However, on June 6, club partners, local dignitaries, hotels and golf clubs will be welcomed at Club Samedan to take a look behind the scenes at Engadine Golf. more than 20 posters located around the Samedan golf complex illustrating the history of the club.

This will be followed by the St Moritz Gold Cup in July, the Swiss Senior Amateur Championship the following week and the three days of the GolfersChoice Engadin ProAm on the two golf courses in August.

The Engadine Golf Club will also be the subject of an exhibition at the Design Gallery St Moritz from June to December. Along the famous giant escalator from Lake St. Moritz to Badrutt Palace, 31 posters tell the story of the club as well as the development of golf in the Engadine.

Finally, a 20-year-old single malt whiskey from Glentauchers in just 246 numbered bottles, including 125 with a matching decanter designed by Robert Niederer, was also produced to mark the jubilee. This being a nod to the fact that at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century, sandwiches were washed down with whiskey for breakfast at Samedan!
