The range of powerful and agile engines available on the Jaguar F-TYPE includes four and eight cylinders, from 300 to 575 horsepower, for a range of performance unmatched in the sports car segment. All are coupled to an eight-speed Quickshift gearbox, which allows total manual control, either via the SportShift lever or via the paddles on the steering wheel.

Each of these engines has a disengageable active exhaust system, either optional or standard. Customers who choose one of the V8, 450 or 575 horsepower, benefit from the new Quiet Start functionality, which allows a more refined, more subtle sound; the electric by-passes of the rear silencer remain closed until they open automatically under strong pressure from the accelerator, releasing the characteristic roar, an essential part of the driving sensations provided by the F-TYPE. Upon request, Quiet Start can remain inactive, by selecting Dynamic mode or by pressing the exhaust button before starting the engine.

The powerful crackles at the foot lift, so characteristic of the F-Type, are still very present, the sound having been worked carefully on each model. Close-coupled, highly efficient particulate filters make these engines even cleaner and ensure that each F-TYPE meets the strictest emission standards worldwide.

Filters, an integral part of catalysis systems, trap ultrafine particles as the exhaust gases pass through them. Under normal conditions of use, the trapped particles oxidize to CO2 and the filter regenerates each time the driver takes his foot off the accelerator.

Raw performance, remarkable control

The new F-TYPE R continues to set the standard as an exceptional sports car, designed for the pleasure of the driver. Like its design, the supercharged 8-liter V5 that drives it has evolved. It is now developing 575 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque, which represents an increase of 25 horsepower and 20 Nm compared to the previous model.

From the lessons learned during the development of the Jaguar XE SV Project 8 limited series, capable of 320 km / h, the Quickshift transmission of the new F-TYPE R as well as that of the models equipped with the 8-horsepower V450 have been carefully recalibrated for increased driving sensations. The new F-TYPE R in particular offers even faster and sharper gear changes when the driver shifts, whether with the paddles on the steering wheel or the SportShift shift lever. With the rise of the reports as with the demotion, the feeling is more immediate and spontaneous.

Added to the torque distributed on demand by the all-wheel drive via the Jaguar IDD (Intelligent Driveline Dynamics) control and driving assistance system, this gearbox provides extraordinary performance and an immediate response to acceleration, on all reports and by any conditions. Accelerating from 0 to 100 km / h takes only 3,7 seconds while the maximum speed is electronically limited to 300 km / h.

The tailor-made IDD and electronic rear differential (EAD) calibration ensures optimal torque distribution between the two axles and between the rear wheels. Combined with a new calibration of the Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) system, it improves traction and behavior - on any surface and in any weather - while the F-TYPE R always provides the driving sensations proper to propulsion and a perfectly balanced behavior.

The suspension with superimposed aluminum triangles, at the front and at the rear, and the steering with recalibrated electric assistance offer even more spontaneity in the driving sensations, fundamental element of the response to each gesture of the driver.

In accordance with the new springs and the new anti-roll bars, the chassis is further reinforced by the continuously variable damping which is at the heart of the Jaguar Adaptive Dynamics system. The valves inside each damper and the algorithms that control them are calibrated to improve both comfort at low speed and control at high speed.

The specific adjustment of the torque vectoring makes it possible to control the action of the brake on the inner rear wheel even more precisely and to limit understeer as much as possible, even in curves at high input speed.

The rear knuckles are now molded from aluminum, which, added to the new wider bearing bearings and new upper ball joints, increases the consistency of camber and toe-in by 37 and 41 percent, respectively. All of this results in more precise control of the tire's contact surface with the road, which results in a much more precise feeling behind the wheel.

Equipped as standard with large brake discs, 380 and 376 mm respectively at the front and rear, the F-TYPE R can be ordered with the Jaguar Carbon Ceramic Matrix (CCM) braking system. With carbon discs, even larger, 398 and 380 mm, and fixed calipers with six and four pistons in the specific yellow color, this set provides exceptionally efficient braking and extraordinary resistance to heating. The pre-filling system guarantees the consistency of the pedal, braking after braking.

Specially developed, the Pirelli P Zero tires of 265/35 ZR 20 and 305/30 ZR 20 are 10 mm wider and provide an exceptional level of grip. They are fitted to 20-inch ten-spoke rims Gloss Black and Contrast Diamond-Turned, and are specific to the F-TYPE R.

At the heart of the F-TYPE range: an unrivaled choice in the sports segment

The supercharged 8 horsepower V450 enters the lineup. Specific to the F-TYPE, this 5-liter displacement engine is designed to deliver always usable power, and impressive performance - its maximum torque of 580 Nm settling in at the very low speed of 2500 rpm.

It is optionally available with four-wheel drive or - for purists - rear-wheel drive. Whatever the customer's choice, he will be able to enjoy acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h in 4 ”6, and reach the maximum speed of 285 km / h.

The meeting of the sports Jaguar with the Ingenium two-liter turbo engine of 300 horses gives an agile, efficient and always affordable car. It's a real F-TYPE, with a real personality. The performance of this version is at the level expected from an F-TYPE: it accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 5,7 seconds only and reaches the maximum speed of 250 km / h. The maximum torque is high, thanks to the turbo; 400 Nm from 1500 revolutions. Combined with a sophisticated technique including variable lift intake valves, the integrated exhaust manifold and the double-entry turbo and ceramic bearing, deliver remarkable power at all speeds. This engine is also the most economical in the range, with a combined consumption of 8,1 liters and emissions of 184 g / km (NEDC2 standards).
