The European Solheim Cup team won the Team of the Year award at the 2019 BT Sport Action Woman Awards. Captain Catriona Matthew, who led her team to victory over the Americans at Gleneagles in September, received the award. at the ceremony hosted by Clare Balding, broadcast live on BT Sport in London.

England netball player Ama Agbeze, whose team won last year, presented the award to close a memorable year for Team Europe in the Solheim Cup and women's golf.

Europe have won the last three singles matches to seal a sensational 14½-13½ victory in the Solheim Cup, a thrilling victory that ended in a final putt, taken in by Suzann Pettersen.

Horse riding icon Pippa Funnell has been named the 2019 BT Sports Action Woman of the Year to crown an incredible year for the 51-year-old, who has returned to victory after 14 years.

Winning the Burghley horse shows and a team silver medal at the European Championships was a huge testament to the dedication and perseverance of this 50-year-old.

Former British swimmer Mel Marshall received the Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of her commitment as a coach and her achievements in swimming.

Skater Sky Brown has been named the Rising Star. At just 11, Brown is already the world's youngest professional skater and hopes to become the youngest British athlete at the Summer Olympics, representing the Great Britain team in Tokyo next year.
