The summer season is looming with the arrival of the sun and outdoor activities! If the sun has many benefits (it boosts morale and promotes the synthesis of vitamin D), beware of the risks it can represent. In fact, UV exposure can cause sunburn or allergic reactions. In the longer term, this promotes the development of skin cancer.

An IPSOS survey conducted last year by the SNDV reveals that, although informed, the French still do not put into practice the right reflexes to protect their skin during sun exposure and continue to use UV rays.

  • Barely more than 1 in 2 French people often put sunscreen on the exposed parts that are not protected by clothing.
  • 57% of French people rarely or never wear a hat.
  • More than 4 out of 5 French people continue to expose themselves to the sun between 12 p.m. and 16 p.m., and nearly 3 out of 10 even do so often.
  • 31% of 18-24 year olds use UV sessions before exposure.

Figures

80 new cases of skin cancer diagnosed in France each year (source INCA), the most serious of which are skin melanomas. In constant increase for 000 years, there are 50 new cases, including 15 deaths each year (INCA).

However, detected and diagnosed in time, they are curable. Education, information and accountability efforts must therefore be continued and strengthened.

The 2022 campaign reminds us that we are not all equal in the face of the sun!

This year, and for the second time in a row, a 2% digital public health campaign will be carried out. For 100 days, doctors, dermatologists, oncologists, patients and influencers will take the floor on social networks to inform and raise public awareness about prevention, encouraging early detection for people at risk, care and treatment. via lives, testimonials, tips and best practices.

If everyone is susceptible to developing melanoma, we are not equal in the face of the sun! In this context, a theme will be highlighted each day to raise awareness of certain categories of the population, including:

  • Professionals, whose work can give rise to intense, unwanted sun exposure, due to outdoor activity (farmers, construction, sailors, sports professions, etc.).
  • Men, generally less careful (30% of French people never go to the dermatologist: among this figure 62% are men against 38% women), are nevertheless just as concerned by the risks of skin cancer, so how can their adopt the right gestures?
  • The family as a whole, but especially the groups most at risk, such as children, to learn how to better protect them.
  • New screening solutions, an improved care pathway and the modernization of consultation systems: self-examination, care pathway, teleconsultations, tele-expertise… face-to-face appointments with the dermatologist are no longer the only solution!

The complete program will be communicated later.
