This week, Canal Plus, distributor of the Golf Trophies, hosted the first jury meeting in its headquarters. An important working meeting since it involved defining the different categories to be rewarded during the evening which will take place on March 16 in Paris and live on Golf +.

20140128_TropheesDuGolf_01The 14 members of the jury present all displayed a real enthusiasm at the idea of ​​laying the cornerstone of an innovative evening, unifying and carrying strong messages for all of French golf. At a time when the discipline is making a comeback in the prestigious circle of Olympism, all have affirmed the need to promote not only the results but also all the players involved in the dynamics of this sport.

Each member of the jury, whether a former professional player, golf director, artist, representative of a professional organization, media partner, took their role very seriously and it was therefore in an atmosphere that was both studious and relaxed that exciting debates took place.

In order to define its categories, the jury chaired by Jean Van de Velde (director of the Alstom Open de France) was guided by the desire to highlight the golfing performances achieved by French men and women in 2014. He also was defined that this evening was to highlight the commitment of personalities, events, clubs, brands to promote golf beyond the world of practitioners.

After more than three hours of debate, the jury decided to reward eight categories during the Golf Trophies:

  • Hope
  • Club
  • Personality
  • Feat
  • Communication and image
  • Special Jury Award
  • Golfer of the Year
  • Golfer of the Year

The jury will soon unveil the names of the nominees for the title of Golfer of the Year. Starting March 2, the public will be able to vote online www.tropheesdugolf.fr .

The jury which wishes to give real value to this expression of Golf fans has chosen to take into account the public's vote up to a third of the votes in the final jury for the Golfer of the Year.
