The new models feature a four-way balance in the sole, improved anti-vibration technology and tapered lines. The new generation of Scotty Cameron Select putters, introducing new quad-directional sole balancing technology, continues the evolution of a line designed for performance, precision-machined and elegantly designed.

Available in stores from March 30, the Select 2018 range highlights the multi-material construction methodology of the master putter maker Titleist, Scotty Cameron. This methodology has proven itself. It combines an inlaid face in stainless steel 303 or aeronautical aluminum 6061 with stainless steel parts to offer an even better balance, weight distribution, sound and feel.

The new Select range features seven modern blade and half-mallet models approved by Tour players. The new Select Laguna joins Scotty's classic Select Newport, Newport 2 and Newport 2.5 blade styles, while the famous Fastback and Squareback are back in a modernized half-mallet version. The Select Newport 3 half-mallet with the handle inserted in the heel completes the range.

Perception, sound and balance of each Select model have been precisely refined to deliver the following performance:

PERCEPTION Contours and visual cues have been refined to improve alignment parameters and inspire confidence. Scotty set out to design a thinner appearance at the top lines giving each one a slightly more rounded outline. The dimensions of the plunging neck, edges and angles have been tapered for a more streamlined look at address.

ARE Advances in sound and feel have been achieved through the use of 30% more anti-vibration materials between the faceplate and the putter body. The connection screws are slightly larger. Indeed, it was necessary to take into account the addition of material and the need to compress the surface to produce a softer sound. Scotty knew how to preserve the feeling required of the best players in the world to control the distance well and diagnose bad contacts.

BALANCED For the first time ever, Scotty features a sole design that features a XNUMX-way balance system to make the putter land in the right position faster and the player to line up more easily. Due to the weight of the shaft and grip, the balance point of each Select putter has been shifted forward to accommodate the way the putter lands at address. This results in a putter that sits perfectly "square", which facilitates alignment regardless of the lie.

The Select 2018 range offers three specific configurations specific to each putter shape and size, all with a face insert extending down to the sole and disappearing from the visual field at address.

  • The new Select Newport, Newport 2, Newport 2.5 and Laguna are modern heel-toe balance blades designed to maintain good balance regardless of the comfort position the player adopts. Each model has a 303 stainless steel insert from the sole to the top of the face. This insert is semi-machined and hand polished to a shiny metallic finish, then bonded to the stainless steel body using up to 30% additional anti-vibration materials.
  • The 2018 version of the new Select Newport 3 is a half mallet with a handle inserted into the heel. It is based on the classic Newport head shape, and designed with a tapered neck (¾ offset) for players who need more peak flow. Multi-material technology (precision-machined 6061 aircraft aluminum face integrated with a 303 stainless steel head) distributes the weight to achieve a higher MOI. A left-handed model has also been added to the 2018 lineup.
  • The new Select Fastback and Squareback half-mallet feature an L-shaped 6061 aircraft aluminum insert creating a single Scotty face-sole block. It consists of a single piece that extends around the contour and down to form the central part of the sole. Thus, the weight is distributed around the periphery to increase MOI and stability when balancing, both backward and forward. The sound and feel of the lightweight aluminum face-sole unit is precision crafted with the addition of anti-vibration materials to the stainless steel body. Every 2018 Fastback and Squareback putter has been ground by a machined sight line on the flange. This line replaces the previous alignment system.

Balancing and accessories

Each new Select putter features sophisticated balancing to provide stability. They feature two customizable stainless steel weights at the toe and heel, a stepless steel handle. The mid-size Matador Black and Silver grip offers the comfort of a larger grip while preserving feel and touch.

Refined aesthetics

Scotty has brought to this Select range in raw stainless steel a unique pearl finish, for a radiant but not dazzling appearance. Scotty's famous three-point translucent “cherry red” signature and the various thinned engravings complete this refined and modern range.

Price and availability

The Scotty Cameron Select will be available from March 30, 2018 at the PVC of 409 €.

Scotty Cameron Select 2018 line

Newport: The iconic “3-step” Newport shape was designed to sit balanced at address. It has evolved thanks to a precision-machined four-directional balancing system. The updated graphics are a continuation of the iconic theme of Scotty's three red dots placed on the sole and on the face at the heel.

Newport 2 (RH / LH): With subtle tweaks to the top edges, the Newport 2 appears slightly thinner at address as top players in the world prefer this setup. Sound is also improved with the addition of 30% anti-vibration material.
Newport 2.5: The Newport 2.5 has a flared neck with finer machining, which gives players a ¾ offset neck, as well as a better path to open and close toe. It further features the four-way balanced sole and enhanced anti-vibration materials that connect the face to the body.

Laguna: Scotty's all-new Laguna has been redesigned. It brings a popular head shape up to date and brings it the technology of the Select 2018 range, with a semi-machined stainless steel face insert, four-way sole balance and anti- improved vibrations.

Newport 3 (RH / LH): Half-mallet with a handle inserted in the heel, it combines the shape of a teardrop with a pronounced peak flow. The machining of the neck has been softened to obtain more sculpted lines. The four-directional balance of the sole has been revisited and the anti-vibration system improved. Within the Select 2018 range, the Newport 3 has a left-handed or left-handed version.

Fastback: The 2018 Select Fastback consists of a neck with a neck machined directly into the head which gives it a cleaner look and more appreciated by Tour players, while benefiting from an additional anti-vibration material placed between the sole and the body of the putter. The L-shaped 6061 aeronautical aluminum insert creating a single face-sole unit has been refined to redistribute the weight around the periphery of the putter head and gain forgiveness.

Squareback: Scotty's 2018 Select Squareback features a machined alignment line giving it a clean look at address. The latter, compared to previous sightlines, allows more anti-vibration material to be placed between the sole and the face-sole unit. This design extends our multi-material methodology with softened contours, subtle shape rectifications and a new configuration.

“This line of Select 2018 putters is the result of everything I have learned from perfecting and redesigning Newport putters over the past 20 years. I always seek to raise the bar by incorporating novelty in materials, milling and manufacturing techniques. With the Select range, I am at the stage of maximum attention to the smallest details. Circuit players notice things that most people don't notice, but these details can make a big difference in how the putter behaves. Considering the weight of the shaft and grip, we reshaped the sole by moving the metal in tiny increments to make the putter line up perfectly. This is what I call the four-way balancing of the sole: from the face to the socket and from the heel to the toe ” - Scotty Cameron, Master Craftsman Putters
