The new president of LET Marta Figueras-Dotti was honored with a gold medal during the celebrations organized by the Madrid Golf Federation last week for its 50th anniversary, at a Gala at La Dehesa Golf Club, in order to celebrate the winning players of 2018 in different competitions.

The Gala knew moving moments, in particular thinking of Manuel Beamonte, secretary of the Federation of Madrid since its creation in 1969, Emma Villacieros, president of the Spanish Federation, and Cristina Marsans, who have all devoted their lives to golf and who left us in 2018.

One of the most important moments of the Gala was when Ignacio Guerras, President of the Madrid Golf Federation, presented the gold medal to Marta Figueras-Dotti, as the first Spanish player to play for Ladies European. Tour and the LPGA, victorious on both tours, directing and inspiring all the Spanish players currently in competition.

Newly elected Marta Figueras-Dotti * was unanimously appointed Chair of the LET Committee at the annual meeting held in London on December 20, 2018. The mission of the Madrilenian woman is to restore growth to a European women's tour that has left a few feathers (in terms of endowments and as a result attendance) in recent years in an environment dominated by the LPGA Tour and invaded by the emerging Asia-Pacific Tours.

There is no doubt that the LET which begins the year 2019 with only 17 tournaments on its calendar will soon benefit from the dynamic instilled by Marta and her assistants.

Marta Figueras-Dotti said: “It is an honor to receive such an important award. It is so important to me now that I am no longer in competition, but as I start a new challenge with the same passion that I put into playing every golf tournament. Thank you to all the people who have supported me in all the projects and in everything I believed in golf, and thank you very much to all the people who have helped me to be who I am, especially my family and my mother "said the winner in tears.

Congratulations, Marta!
