Just a hundred years ago, Baroness Noémie de Rothschild discovered the village of Megève, its gentle slopes and incomparable sunshine. One of the most famous high-end winter sports resorts will soon see the light of day. Located on its heights, the Chalets du Mont d'Arbois borrow their names from the first three daughters of Benjamin and Ariane de Rothschild. Built in 1927 by Henry-Jacques Le Even, Chalet Noémie was initially the family's private residence. The main chalet called the Chalet d'Eve was acquired in 1960 by Baron Edmond to host the famous 100 hours evening, which launched the renovation of the Palace des Neiges, the family's first hotel establishment. Built in 2005 as a continuation of Chalet Noémie, Chalet Alice completes the triptych.

Personalized decoration

The decoration was then entrusted to Thierry Curty under the artistic direction of Pierre-Yves Rochon, who notably left his mark on the Hotel George V and the Prince of Wales in Paris, as well as most of Joël Rebuchon's restaurants. The style of the chalets is thus intended to be close to the personality of the daughters of Benjamin and Ariane de Rothschild. Chalet Alice offers a "bohemian chic" spirit with bright colors bringing cheerfulness and light to the rooms. Bold tartans lend warmth and elegance to Chalet Noémie, Chalet Eve opting for a delicate and traditional style. The furniture evokes the mountain spirit in a more contemporary version. The eternal codes of alpine chalets are to be found everywhere: windows with small timber, old beams, old fir and spruce wood, raw stone and mountain fabrics.

A starred chef

In recent years, the Edmond de Rothschild family and the Four Seasons group have combined their know-how in the art of living, luxury and high-end hotels in Megève, including the Chalets du Mont- d'Arbois are - with the Four Seasons Hotel a few hundred meters away - the flagship. Stéphane Gras and his team have been taking care of their customers since the very recent reopening of the establishment on July 10. Nicolas Hensinger offers refined cuisine in his Prima restaurant, awarded one star in the Michelin Guide, where the egg but also plants and local flavors are in the spotlight. "The mountain offers a multitude of plants with unique flavors, it is at the heart of this nature that I come to draw my inspiration for my recipes", confides the young 31-year-old Alsatian chef, who leaves every morning at sunrise to pick his aromatic plants in the heights of Megève. The wine list highlights the Edmond de Rothschild Heritage vineyards, from Spain to New Zealand via Bordeaux.

Recently renovated in a modern and cozy decor, the spa by Bamford - an English brand specializing in organic products - gives access to an indoor and outdoor swimming pool heated to 29 degrees with balneotherapy and terrace to appreciate the sumptuous landscape of the Aravis and the meadows at loss of sight. "Our spa is distinguished by its cocooning side, its discretion and its simplicity, like our Chalets », Emphasizes Jessica Henrion, the spa manager. Special mention for the detox treatment, which includes a massage with Jade stone as well as a special lunch concocted by Nicolas Hensinger. Also to be tested, the deep tissue massage provided by Lucy. After choosing your oil, based on geranium, chamomile or rosemary, you set off on a voluptuous 50-minute journey, during which your smiling sailor works to relieve all your tensions, especially with the help of her fore arms. You have indeed read the magic word. The Chalets du Mont d'Arbois are backed by a pretty 18-hole course designed by the Englishman Henry Cotton. The green at 16 would also be visible from the hotel if it were not camouflaged by the trees. This summer's flagship activity, Heli Safari Golf even allows hotel guests to go and play the famous courses of Evian or Esery (in Geneva) after twenty minutes… by helicopter! Thrill seekers can also take on the steep slopes of Mont Joly by mountain bike. Others will shop at theNoémie grocery store opened recently in the heart of Megève, admire the unique blue of the waters of Lake Flumet, pick blueberries or stumble upon a random edelweiss on one of the countless hiking trails in the area. Without forgetting the unforgettable experience of a candlelit dinner in a traditional yurt before ending the evening at the star gazebo, to contemplate the sky and appreciate the placid charm of a summer night at the top. of the alpine mountain.

At the Chalets du Mont d'Arbois, we are finally not very far from seventh heaven.
