The golf world has been given a tantalizing new glimpse of the challenge awaiting players at the Dunas Course at Terras da Comporta in Portugal, as the final countdown begins to the launch of architect David McLay-Kidd's first course in Europe mainland this summer. The par-71 links-style course, located an hour south of Lisbon, is one of the most anticipated golf course design projects to be unveiled in 2023. It was captured in a new light by the young English photographer and videographer James Hogg before its inauguration in June.

Hogg, who has photographed many of the finest courses in the North West of England, including Royal Birkdale, Formby and Hillside, as well as the new Links course at La Hacienda Links Golf Resort in southern Spain, spent three days of bringing the Dunas course to life by combining images and video, as preparations continue for the opening of the site in June.

Rodrigo Ulrich, Golf Director of Terras da Comporta, said: “David McLay-Kidd has done an amazing job designing a world-class course on the most spectacular golf course I have ever seen. “With the project nearing completion, it is essential that we have photographic and video content that shows the course in all its glory and demonstrates why we are so excited about its launch. “James was given a very specific mandate and executed it to perfection. We couldn't be happier with everything he delivered and we're already looking forward to him returning to reshoot the course as it develops and matures in the years to come. »

Things to know about the course

Created on 84 hectares of natural, sandy land, The Dunas Course – which will measure 6 meters from the back tees – has been built to the highest sustainable practices and is set to quickly become one of the most popular golf venues in the world. Europe as soon as it opened. The Dunas Course will be complemented by a new clubhouse and a new golf academy. Off the fairways, a wide range of leisure activities will be offered, including horseback riding, wellness and sailing, as well as a large number of grounds for hotels and tourist and residential condominiums.
