Ladies European Tour: a record calendar for 2021
The Ladies European Tour announces a record calendar for 2021, with 27 events in 19 countries, the Solheim Cup and the Summer Olympics. The players will compete for a combined prize of over 19 million euros: an increase of 2 million euros compared to the announcement proposed before COVID-19 for the 2020 season and 6 million euros for 2019.
One year after the monumental Joint Venture between the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) and the Ladies European Tour, and after a year disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2021 season should not only regain the momentum of spring 2020, but also host up to nine new fully sanctioned tournaments.
With the return to the schedule of all postponed events, the season will broadcast over 200 hours of live stream, an unprecedented record, and coverage will expand to more than double the number of tournaments compared to 2020.
Of the nine new events, three are endowed with one million euros including the Scandinavian Mixed Hosted by Henrik & Annika, the Creekhouse Ladies Open and the Big Green Egg Dutch Ladies Open, which will be played on the star's course of the Solheim Cup and official ambassador of the tournament, Anne van Dam.
The first Skaftö Open completes the Swedish tournament trio, while the Gant Ladies Open marks the return of the Ladies European Tour to Finland for the first time in 10 years.
The season kicks off at the rescheduled Investec South African Women's Open May 13-16 before heading to the first Aramco Team Series tournament in New York.
Europe will host most tournaments between June and September, with 23 straight weeks of golf on the horizon. LET will travel to the Czech Republic, England, Finland, France, Spain, Scotland, Sweden and Switzerland, as well as Japan for the rescheduled Olympics and Toledo, Ohio, USA, for the Solheim Cup.
Further for the final quarter of the season, LET revisits India, Kenya and Morocco after the 2020 hiatus. They are also tentatively set to play in Thailand and the Philippines, for the first time in history. of the Ladies European Tour.
Like last season, Dubai and Saudi Arabia are back on the calendar after successfully hosting the Omega Dubai Moonlight Classic and Aramco Saudi Ladies International, respectively.
The Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España will once again host the season finale, with a € 600 event that will be decisive for the season's Race to Costa del Sol, which returns for a second year after the Danish Emily Kristine Pedersen reached the top in 000. The "Race" will offer a bonus of 2020 euros between the first three in the official classification. The player who will be at the top of the classification will receive an additional 250 euros, second place will receive 000 euros and 125 euros for third place after the race of the season.
