RTX technology had revolutionized spin when it was launched. The new generation is sure to further enhance Cleveland Golf's reputation as a technological leader in this segment, but also its hegemonic position as leader on the French market for many years.

Cleveland Golf has advanced a number of technologies to create the 2.0 generation of 588 RTX wedges while offering a wider choice to all golfers. It is the culmination of hundreds of hours of work and feedback from the best Tour players who collaborated greatly in this design.

The Cleveland Golf R&D department has developed 3 different shapes of sole design for its wedges on two distinct head shapes to allow players, whatever their level, to improve their little game.

The so-called "muscle back" head will appeal to the best players while the "cavity back" head will delight progressing players.

Technologies of the new RTX 2.0 club face

The Rotex clubface has been designed to provide the maximum abrasion area permitted by the USGA and R&A.

This was made possible thanks to three innovations directly from the Cleveland Golf R&D laboratories:

  • The fourth generation of “Tour Zip grooves” offers grooves with 15% sharp angles but also deeper precision machining in order to produce more spin on all shots played from the rough.
  • Two circular clubface machining passes provide superior clubface abrasion and close to USGA and R&A limits. This results in more friction and more spin, especially when the ball is in bad lie.
  • Extremely precise terminal laser machining for a constant texture of the entire club face

Sole design

Cleveland Golf has created three distinct forms of machining and sole design for the 588 RTX 2.0 wedges.

This clear system makes it easier than ever for any golfer to build an assortment of wedges which will allow him to optimize his little game whatever the ground conditions, his playing preferences or his dexterity on short shots.

By gradually varying the sole design of its wedges according to the loft and the bounce, Cleveland Golf uncovers a palette of weapons to score that does not exist to date.

1 point sole (Low Bounce) Key Points

  • Machining of the rear edge of the sole and machining in the heel and toe
  • Lowest effective bounce
  • Keeping the attacking edge of the sole closer to the ground for more aggressive lobed shots and to offer more stability on full face shots.

2-point sole (Medium Bounce) Key Points

  • Trailing Edge Grind + moderate trailing relief
  • Moderate machining of the rear edge
  • Median effective bounce
  • gameplay and variation of shots generated very wide whatever the playing conditions.

3-point sole (High Bounce) Key Points

  • Constant sole width
  • Highest effective bounce
  • Allows golfers to play advantageously with their wedges around the greens. More stability on full shots even if the curvature of the sole makes it easier to play with the opening of the club face.
