Starting seven strokes behind leader Dylan Frittelli, Alexander Levy knew he would have to score low this Sunday to hope to put pressure on the South African. This is exactly what he managed to do, crossing the first leg in -2 thanks to a birdie, bogey, birdie, birdie sequence from 6 to 9, while the leading man played the first nine holes in the through.

Armed with a again very effective putting, Levy continued his attacks on the return, adding two more birdies at the 11th and 14th which put him in the immediate wake of his rival.

Frittelli, won by the pressure, committed to 12 a very expensive double bogey, which revived all the suspense.

Clinging to his meager advantage at once, the South African then returned four crucial putts from 14 to 17 to stay ahead. But Levy, who narrowly missed the eagle at 18 after hitting the green in two, signed a final birdie to finish at -17 overall, making a very good card of 67 (-5) in this final round.

For Levy, it's a repeat of his victory at the Volvo China Open in 2014, making him the first two-time champion in the 23-year history of the competition. Spain's Pablo Larrazabal took third place.

"It's fantastic - I'm really happy because the 2014 Volvo China Open was my first Tour win so the event means a lot to me and I love playing in China"said Levy.

The 26-year-old Frenchman started the day seven strokes behind Frittelli and produced the biggest comeback by a winner in tournament history. “At the start of the lap I thought that being in the top three would be a good result, but when I was on the 15th and I saw that I was only one stroke behind the leader… it is as I started to believe that I could win the tournament ”, he said.

The best local talent performance of the week came from Li Haotong, 21, who made a spiritual defense of the Volvo China Open title he won in 2016, who finished with a 70 (-2) card for arrive in 11th place.
