Volunteers of America Classic: Angela Stanford triumphs in Texas
Angela Stanford notched her seventh LPGA Tour victory, winning the Volunteers of America Classic at Colony Texas at home, keeping the South Korean stars out of the way. Céline Boutier finished 38th at +6 (290), just ahead of Perrine Delacour who was 43rd at +7 (291).
Angela Standford, author of a very solid 67 (-4), the best card of the day with seven birdies against three bogeys. The Texan relegated to two lengths her compatriot Yaelimi Noh and especially the two South Korean stars scheduled to win, So Yeon Ryu and Inbee Park, ex world number one and co-leaders the day before.
the 43-year-old American won her seventh title two years after winning the Evian Championship, becoming the first player over 40 to win the LPGA Tour since Cristie Kerr in 2017 who won the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia.

His best part on the LPGA Tour, indeed it was the first time Stanford's parents witnessed his triumph on an event on the American circuit.
Jin Young Ko the current world number one finished for the third time alone in fifth position.
Earlier this year, Pat Hurst named Stanford assistant captain at the Solheim Chup along with Michelle Wie.
Stanford is one of seven Texans on the field at next week's US Women's Open at Champions Golf Club in Houston.
