Villaverde Hotel & Resort, host of the Senior Italian Open, has joined the exclusive European Tour Properties network, thus becoming the 26th destination of the European Tour. The 4-star resort in Udine in northern Italy, easily accessible from Venice Marco Polo Airport, is home to Golf Club Udine, which has established itself as the region's premier championship golf course.

The course was established in 1972. Over the years, architect Marco Croze has reworked the 9-hole course with his colleague, John Harris, increasing it to 18 holes. Following the acquisition of the Udine Golf Club by Gabriele Lualdi, from 2013 to 2017, significant work was carried out on the course. This resulted in a worthy championship course that has hosted the Senior Italian Open for the past two years and has become a destination on the Alps Tour circuit. The Par 72 course of 6 meters has more than 382 trees aligned on the fairways.

The Villaverde Hotel & Resort Wellness Spa & Golf itself is an elegant contemporary retreat in the shadow of the Julian Alps, offering 33 double rooms, a first-class wellness center, two restaurants, and meeting and treatment rooms medical.

The Lodge Villaverde, composed of eight independent apartments and integrated in the 85 hectares of the Golf de Villaverde on the 9th hole green, offers an independent and private accommodation solution ideal for medium and long stays.

The Hotel San Daniele, a three star hotel in the heart of San Daniele del Friuli, the town famous for its Prosciutto di San Daniele, is just six minutes from the Villaverde golf course. The hotel, completely restored in 2017, has 24 modern and elegant double rooms.

Villaverde Hotel & Resort joins Marco Simone Golf & Country Club as host of the Ryder Cup 2022 and Verdura Resort in Sicily as Italian representatives of the European Tour Properties network and will benefit from the expertise and knowledge shared by other member sites.

David MacLaren, head of European Tour Properties and head of The Staysure Tour (formerly European Senior Tour), said: “We are delighted to be able to welcome Villaverde Hotel & Resort to our network and this will be a great addition to our portfolio of world class destinations. "
