The last day of the Vaudreuil Golf Challenge was the scene of an unbearable suspense, between cross-hunts and meteoric adventures. While the weather seemed to be inclement for this last day, everything changed at the start of the last part where the rain made its appearance. It has intensified over the hours, adding to the dramaturgy of a fight that already promised to be spectacular, between the French Thomas LINARD and the New Zealander Ryan FOX.

The French did not start in the best way with a bogey from the first hole of the day. It was however without counting on his reaction capacity, he then chained 3 birdies on holes 3, 6 and 7. Meanwhile Ryan FOX showed some signs of weakness with his first double bogey this week, on 6. A the start of the return, the two players were then tied with a total score of (-14), in difficult conditions which kept the suspense at its peak.

After a game interruption of almost 1 hour and 15 minutes, the two men stood shoulder to shoulder with a birdie and a bogey each. Seeing the Swedish Steven JEPPESEN and the American Connor ARENDELL in difficulty and failing to make up their delay, it was then certain that victory was going to be played between the two strong men of this week at Vaudreuil.

The shadow of a playoff was beginning to appear. However, the French then chained two bogeys at the worst of times, on the 15th and 16th while Ryan FOX conceded only one Bogey. After two pars on the 17th, the two men only held each other in one swipe. With a superb second shot from the Frenchman who found the green of 18, the pressure was then on the shoulders of the New Zealander. Despite this, and just like since the beginning of the week, the 49th of the last British Open was able to remain solid to also find the green. Two men, two putts and two birdies on the 18th, to close this last lap and see the crowning of the player who will have led from start to finish, Ryan FOX!

Note that the great performance of the day is to the credit of the young 22-year-old French professional, Matthieu DECOTTIGNIES-LAFON. Already the author of two victories on the pro golf tour this season, he now has a magnificent 65 card. A single bogey on the 15th, five birdies and an eagle propel him 27 places in the ranking. 5th in the final classification, he achieved his best performance on the Challenge Tour, which bodes well for the rest of his young career.

This third edition of the Vaudreuil Golf Challenge has kept all of its promises. Since the 1st edition, the tournament continues to grow and this in all areas. In a very short time the Vaudreuil Golf Challenge has acquired a good reputation with the players, with an ever-increasing field. See you next year for the 4th edition!
