Already committed to young Dunkirkers who benefit from free initiations as part of their education, the Urban Community of Dunkirk (CUD) and its president Patrice Vergriete, wished to go even further in the democratization of golf. And by that, develop its accessibility to the greatest number. This is why the development of the practice of handigolf was privileged, in accordance with the project carried by the French federation.

An ambition that Patrice Vergriete and Manuel Biota, president of Blue Green (delegate of golf), materialized on Saturday May 13 at the golf of Dunkirk, by signing a partnership agreement for 3 years. And this in the presence of Jean-Lou Charon, president of the French Golf Federation. With the major objective of promoting discipline by:

  • the organization of international meetings and handigolf events on the Dunkirk site,
  • the training of teachers in the practice and the creation of a handigolf school.

On the first part, Blue Green proposes to mobilize its teams and its network of partners, in order to organize international competitions on the golf of Dunkirk for which it is the manager. As for the development of the practice itself, Blue Green undertakes not only to train club teachers in handigolf via training provided by the French Golf Federation or other organizations expert in the practice for people in a situation of handicap (French Handisport Federation, French Adapted Sport Federation, others). But also to create a “Handigolf School”, a structure allowing the discovery and teaching of golf for all people with disabilities, minors or adults.

Through this convention, the objective for the CUD is to affirm its attachment and its commitment in favor of sport for all, as Patrice Vergriete reminded us: . Especially since Dunkirk has become an important golf destination ”. The development strategy (multiplication and sustainability of sporting events), the levers (health sport, training, integration, social ties, communication) and the targets it wishes to reach (people with disabilities, young people, territories) have clearly defined. For their part, Blue Green and the French Golf Federation are committed by agreement to define the technical terms allowing each to meet the objectives of promoting handigolf in Dunkerquois.
