The Ruban Rose Golf Trophies brought together 1400 golfers in 2018 under the leadership of the "Committee for the Prevention and Screening of Cancers" created in June 2001. The Association's goal is to promote the prevention and screening of cancers so that mortality rates from breast, cervical and colorectal cancers. Its operation is ensured by a team composed solely of dynamic volunteers, motivated and activists in the cause of prevention and screening. The Cancer Prevention and Screening Committee is a partner of the National Cancer Institute and the New Aquitaine Public Health Agency. He is a member of the office and the Board of Directors of the New Aquitaine Cancer Screening coordination center.

Its essential mission is to raise awareness of cancer prevention and screening, to promote organized screening, set up by the public authorities and to promote research. With two highlights in the year, Rose October, for breast cancer screening, and Mars Bleu, for colorectal cancer screening, and since January 2019 cervical cancer screening.

In 2018, 382 new cases of cancer were estimated in mainland France.

Breast cancer is both the most common and the deadliest in women. Each year, 59 new cases are detected in France and 000 women die.

Colorectal cancer, or cancer of the colon-rectum, affects nearly 45 people in France each year. It is responsible for nearly 000 deaths per year.

Yet, if caught early, colorectal cancer is cured in 9 out of 10 cases.

Cancer of the cervix affects 3 women every year and causes 000 deaths. However, this cancer can be detected very early by performing a screening test.

However, 41% of new cancer cases could be avoided if the exposure to modifiable risk factors was optimal and the objectives of prevention policies achieved.

This is why the Committee has oriented its missions towards prevention and screening, using all means of communication to disseminate prevention messages to as many people as possible.

For 15 years, the Committee has been part of the program "Sport, health, well being" of the Ministry of Health and Sports, since it is demonstrated today that a regular activity have beneficial effects on health. Sufficient and regular physical activity is associated with a reduced risk of several cancers as well as recurrences.

In 2018, the Challenge du Ruban Rose gathered 11 people on the quays of Bordeaux. The Pink Ribbon markets in Gironde 000 people, the Blue Mars 1 people, and the Pink Ribbon Golf Trophies 500 golfers; and multiple information actions with young people in schools and employees in companies.

In 2019, the Cancer Prevention and Screening Committee will celebrate the 15th anniversary of the race in pink on the quays of Bordeaux and expect 15 participants, but also the 000 years of the Pink Ribbon Golf Trophy in New Aquitaine which will bring together more 5 golfers, and the 1200th anniversary of the pink markets in South Gironde with more than 10 walkers and numerous participations in rugby matches, basketball, pétanque tournament, zumba, etc.

All these events have made it possible, thanks to the generosity of the public, to donate € 380 in recent years to healthcare establishments in the Gironde.
