The seventh edition of The Match will see Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy face off against Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas. The event will take place on December 10 at the Pelican Golf Club in Florida, where the Pelican Women's Championship will also take place this week, the penultimate event of the LPGA Tour season.

Tiger Woods will be back on the fairways for the seventh annual "The Match" on December 10. The 15-time Major champion will team up with world No. 1 Rory McIlroy vs. Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth in a 12-hole event at Pelican Golf Club in Bel Air, Florida. all funds raised will be donated to relief efforts for the reconstruction of the coast devastated by Hurricane Ian

. A previous edition of The Match raised $33 million for charity and provided 27 million meals through Feeding America, according to a press release.

This is Woods' third appearance on The Match. He teamed with former NFL quarterback Peyton Manning to defeat Phil Mickelson and Tom Brady by a one-stroke lead in May 2020. Woods lost to Mickelson in the first The Match event in November 2018. McIlroy, Spieth and Thomas will make their debuts in this competition. Thomas won the PGA Championship for the second time in his career, while McIlroy reclaimed his world number 1 spot last month. Spieth won the RBC Legacy Award in April.

Woods, 46, has not played in a tournament since July, when he failed to qualify for the 150th British Open at St Andrews. He is still recovering from serious injuries sustained in a car accident outside Los Angeles in February 2021. He finished the April Masters in 47th place, his first start since the accident, and retired after three rounds at the PGA Championship in May. He has not yet announced whether he will participate in this event organized for the benefit of his foundation. Woods plans to attend the PNC Championship with his son Charlie, scheduled for Dec. 15-18 in Orlando, but has yet to confirm whether he will attend the event.
