TaylorMade announces the BRNR Mini Driver, a modern take on a TaylorMade classic, which pays homage to the iconic Ti Bubble 2 that dominated the pro circuits in the mid-1990s.

TaylorMade's leading brand in performance golf introduces the new Mini Driver that combines retro aesthetics with today's technology and performance, with this vintage nod that pays homage to TaylorMade's iconic Ti Bubble 2.

The state-of-the-art 304cc BRNR Mini with a reimagined K-sole reminiscent of the Ti Bubble 2. The K-sole helps the club glide smoothly through the turf while reducing drag and promoting a consistent shot. This allows golfers to achieve driver-off-the-deck distance with the consistency of higher fairway woods.

Two moveable weights on the sole – a 13g weight in the rear and a 1,5g weight in the front – can be changed to create dynamically different results and ball trajectories. In standard configuration, with the 13g weight in the rear, it offers the optimal blend of long distance, forgiveness and versatility. Moving the weight 13g forward results in a low spin setting for greater distance with a punchy trajectory and increased roll. This setting reduces the effects by approximately 200 rounds per minute.

Although the BRNR Mini Driver can benefit a wide range of golfers, it best meets two use cases. First, top players looking for a club they can hit off the tee with increased accuracy while maximizing distance.

Tour pros choose the Mini Driver for this reason – because it tightens dispersion for power players with lightning-fast ball speeds without sacrificing too much distance. Players in this category also like to hit it off the tee, making it a valuable weapon for second shots in long par 5s.

The second use case is for golfers who have difficulty with the driver – making it an ideal option for players who find 460cc drivers hard to hit, especially those hitting the ball downward. low and fail to optimize launch with larger heads. For these players, the BRNR Mini Driver offers an advantage over the 3 wood with its larger face, which adds forgiveness and a larger contact patch.

Overall, this is a versatile club suitable for players with a quick swing looking for precision off the tee as well as average golfers looking for a more forgiving and easier to launch alternative. than fairway woods.

The BRNR has already been used on the PGA TOUR during the Masters and RBC Heritage last weekend, including by Tommy Fleetwood who played the BRNR 13,5° mini driver.

"The BRNR has been very popular in testing with tour players, particularly at the first major tournament of the year, as a potential lane-finding tool on demanding tee shots and on hard drive shots. approach on the par fives. Players are always looking for a versatile and reliable starting club, and BRNR meets both criteria. The ability to adjust the weights based on the ball flight the player is looking for allows this club to offer distance and shot-shaping ability that can be crucial on tighter courses.” Keith Sbarbaro, Vice President, Tour Operations

The revitalization of the Mini Driver range as a tribute to the past began in 2019 with the reimagining of the Original One, celebrating the club's 40th anniversary and the launch of the first metal wood driver. The 300 Mini Driver has raised the profile of the franchise even further in 2021. Building on this success, BRNR is continuing the legacy by bringing back iconic 300cc-sized drivers that have defined the brand over the years.

Taking inspiration from the Ti Bubble 2 driver, which was in the bag of the 1998 Masters winners, the BRNR Mini picks up the copper and black hues of the original design. It retains key styling cues such as the mid-'90s TaylorMade logo, while benefiting from advanced technology and use of materials. Each component has been designed to create a nostalgic experience. The famous UST ProForce 65 shaft is revitalized and dressed in black and copper to resemble the original Burner Bubble®. A SuperStroke S-Tech grip (50g) adds to the aesthetics, while a retro-inspired barrel-shaped headgear completes the package.

“The BRNR Mini Driver is a modern take on a classic driver, showcasing our longstanding heritage in the sport. Although it has a retro aesthetic, it's not a show piece to hang in your office. It has the power to attack golf courses and can be a major asset in the hands of the right golfer. We sought to strike a balance between retro elements and modern aspects, technology and performance.
