Sung Hyun Park signs his first victory of the season with a card of 66 (-5) in the final round of the Volunteers of America LPGA Texas Classic shortened to 36 holes due to the difficult weather conditions encountered at the start of the event. Undertaken on Saturday, the second and final round ended Sunday with the victory of Sung Hyun Park. This is his first of the season and his third in his career on the professional circuit.

The 24-year-old golfer, who ranks fifth in the world, totaled an eagle, five birdies and two buggies in her last outing.

American Lindy Duncan excelled on the last 18 holes she completed with a card of 64 (-7). This performance allowed her to drop from 16th to second, and finish with just one stroke of the winner. Duncan set eight birdies and committed one bug.

The Chinese Yu Liu (66) finished third, two strokes from the leader.

Brooke M. Henderson had the best result among the Canadians finishing 23rd, eight strokes behind Park. The Ontarian ended the tournament with a round of 68 (-3).

Ontarians Brittany Marchand (71) and Alena Sharp (73) placed, in order, 57th and 68th. For her part, the Quebecer Anne-Catherine Tanguay (75) finished 99th, four strokes above par. Finally, Lorie Kane (73) took the 132nd place after having obtained a cumulative score of 153 (+11).

Remember that the Quebecer Maude-Aimée LeBlanc withdrew from the event after a first round of 75 (+4).

Céline Boutier in the top 15

Very at ease on Sunday during the last round, Céline Boutier returned an excellent card of 67 (-4) to take the 12th place final of the Volunteers of America LPGA Texas Classic. This is his 2nd top 15 in a row on the LPGA.

With six birdies, including three on her last four holes, against only two bogeys, the Frenchwoman was able to climb to 12th place, at -5 overall. A week after the 15th place in San Francisco, the former world No. 1 amateur confirms that his series of failed cuts at the start of the season is well part of the old history.
