Led since the start of this Solheim Cup, the Americans have not succeeded in making up for their delay in the singles matches. A draw, 6 everywhere in the 12 singles, allows Europe to glean its second consecutive title, after Gleneagles in 2019.

Céline Boutier wins her single 5 & 4 against American Mina Harigae, and scores her first point of the week for Team Europe.

On the course of Inverness in Ohio, the Americans, at home, never managed to take advantage of the public advantage: the players of Pat Hurst did not lead once in this 2021 edition. of the Solheim Cup.

After two days of doubles spent in the lead, Europe was two points ahead at the start of the singles matches. It was necessary to score at least 5 points, to ensure equality.

In the event of a tie 14 everywhere, the defending team keeps the trophy.

Very quickly, the first matches turned in favor of the European team, and the leaderboard found itself more blue than red.

The first points were reported by Maguire and Sagstrom, while Anna Nordqvist, who opened the singles on Monday, shared her game against Lexi Thompson.

The young rookie Leona Maguire is the first to score a point on Monday. It thus closes an excellent Solheim Cup: 4 wins and a draw and therefore 4,5 points brought down out of 5 possible.

The first American point was reported by world number 1 Nelly Korda. She won on the 18th hole 1UP on Georgia Hall.

Behind the recent winner of the LPGA Championship was Celine Boutier's match. This meeting pitted him against Mina Harigae, who had beaten him in doubles the day before. This time, the match turned out in favor of the Frenchwoman, who after a draw and a defeat, brings back her first point for Europe. She won clearly 5 & 4 against Harigae and this, conceding no hole to the American.

In this 2021 edition, Boutier still collects 1,5 points for Europe out of 3 possible.

Behind the French, Koerstz Madsen and Ernst went to the 18th and shared their match. At this time, Europe leads 13 to 11. Indeed, the Americans Altomare and Khang brought two more points to the United States by having respectively Ciganda and Popov.

It is the 26-year-old rookie, Matilda Castren who scores the 14th point synonymous with victory for Europe. Opposed to Lizette Salas, the Finn leads 1UP at the start of the 18th. The American signing the par, Castren does not tremble and enters a 2,5-meter putt for the par and to win her match.

In the last match, Emily Pedersen brought back a 15th point for the European team by winning 1UP over Danielle Kang.

Europe retains the title for the second time in its history, and also wins for the second time on American soil. Already in the team at Gleneagles, Céline Boutier won her second Solheim Cup. She is the second Frenchwoman to achieve this performance after Patricia Meunier-Lebouc (winner in 2000 and 2003).

After two consecutive victories, European captain Catriona Matthew has announced that she will not take over the captaincy in Spain in 2023.

The Europeans will try for the first time in their history to win a third consecutive title in Andalusia.
