Created in 1903 and for its 114th edition, the Salon d'Automne will take place from October 12 to 15, 2017 on the avenue des Champs-Élysées. Endowed with national and international fame, the Salon d'Automne allowed the emergence of major figures and movements at the origin of the artistic revolutions of the XNUMXth century. It continues to offer a very wide range of creation, both by the variety of mediums it calls upon and also by the number of exhibiting artists from all over the world.

In 2016, 870 artists participated for double the number of applications, from 45 different countries. The Salon d'Automne is also present internationally with a sister salon in Belarus (in Minsk) since 2015, a new partnership with the Academy of Fine Arts of Saint Petersburg, an annual collaboration with the National Art Center of Tokyo or the invitation sent this year to 60 artists of the Salon by the city of Paphos, European Capital of Culture 2017.

Due to its location, located on the Champs-Élysées, in the heart of the capital, the Salon d'Automne stands out as an unmissable event on the contemporary art scene.

A new lease of life for the Salon d'Automne

For this 114th edition, Jacques Villeglé has accepted to be the sponsor of the Salon d'Automne. A major figure in the New Realists group, which has marked the history of art through his artistic and socio-political gesture, Jacques Villeglé participates, through his support, in the Salon's wish to breathe new life into the spirit of the event, committed to offering an exceptional artistic encounter to professionals from the art world as well as to the general public. The Salon d'Automne has also invited two artists: guest of honor Yvon Taillandier who will present around ten works and guest artist Ambroise Monod (Récéquence) who will present an installation specially designed for the Salon d'Automne. Each one, through his own approach and his own imagination, invites us to approach creation as connected to a "Whole". The Taillandier-Land, made up of busy characters and connected tubes, echoes the world of Récéquence where each recycled object joins forces with another to endlessly transform the original object.

For this 114th edition, the Salon d'Automne will present 880 artists from 48 different countries. The Salon d'Automne exhibition is presented in sections, rigorously selected and organized for a better reading of the works. Apart from the classifications by disciplines - Engraving, Sculpture, Drawing, Photography, Digital Art, Video, Architecture, Environmental Art, Artist's books -, there are several sections for Painting, defined by their pictorial tendencies (Synthesis, Abstraction, Emergence , Expressionism, Subjective Figuration, Figures and essays, Myths and singularity, Convergences).

Punctuating these four days, a cultural program enriches the exhibition with concerts, conferences, round tables, readings and a fashion show, to which the public is widely invited.

The Salon d'Automne is an association of artists, not for profit, born in 1903, recognized as being of public utility since 1920, and supported by the Ministry of Culture and Communication. It is today chaired by Sylvie Koechlin, artist sculptor. The ambition of the Salon is to encourage and develop the fine arts in all its manifestations and particularly through exhibitions both in France and abroad.
