The European Tour confirmed in a press release yesterday the postponement of the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open due to the continuing threat posed by the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19).

The tournament was to be the second edition of the 2020 Rolex Series of the European Tour, at the Mount Juliet Estate originally scheduled for May 28-31, hosted by grand champion Graeme McDowell.

Keith Pelley, Managing Director of the European Tour, said “The decision to postpone the Irish Open follows consultation with all stakeholders and was taken with the health and well-being of participants as a top priority. Our thoughts are with everyone right now and we are all united in trying to fight the spread of the pandemic. "

"With this in mind, we will continue to assess all aspects of the European Tour 2020 program, and discussions on the rescheduling of postponed events will continue until we have a clear picture of the global situation."
