Reflections Redux: unpublished exhibition by Benjamin Millepied with Barbara Kruger
On the occasion of FIAC 2017, the Studio des Acacias by Mazarine, a mythical place dedicated to interdisciplinary creation, invites the French dancer and choreographer Benjamin Millepied and the famous American artist Barbara Kruger.
Paul-Emmanuel Reiffers, Founder of Studio des Acacias and President of Mazarine Groupe, wished to offer his friend and former dance director at the Paris Opera to create a unique experience combining holographic projections, films and immersive scenography. The exhibition, titled Reflections Redux, will be held from October 20 to November 12, 2017.
Born in 1977, Benjamin Millepied is a French dancer and choreographer. Principal dancer of the New York City Ballet, former director of dance at the Paris Opera, he is now the head of the company LA Dance Project, a veritable laboratory of modern choreographic creation.
World-renowned conceptual artist, Barbara Kruger has for more than 30 years diverted the advertising images that she enlarges and diverted by associating them with slogans with often political connotations. Questioning the violence of the consumer society (I shop therefore I am: I buy therefore I am) and the place of women, the work of Barbara Kruger appears in a New York scene of the 80s political and claimant. Exhibited in the largest museums in the world, Barbara Kruger is today one of the most respected artists and is part of the executive committee of the prestigious Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles.
