Three tricolors, Paul Barjon, Jérémy Gandon and Cyril Bouniol will try to qualify for the Puerto Rico Open of the PGA Tour, during the qualifications this Monday on the Palm Beach Gardens course, in Florida.

Four French at the Puerto Rico Open?

PGA Tour / Puerto Rico Open

It is rare to see three French players participate in Monday's qualification for the Puerto Rico Open (March 2-5). Paul Barjon, Jérémy Gandon and Cyril Bouniol are present on the Wellington Golf National in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, with the aim of winning one of the four places available for this alternative PGA Tour tournament. Paul Barjon, a member of the Korn Ferry Tour after failing to qualify for the top tier in 2021-22, recently made two cuts in two second division tournaments in the United States (in Panama and Colombia), but has missed the first two cuts in the Bahamas. He is currently ranked 106th in the Order of Merit.

Since mid-January, Jérémy Gandon has been a regular player on the Asian Tour, although he has yet to take part in a single tournament on the Asian Tour. Although residing in Dallas, he benefits from a category that allows him to participate in all Monday qualifying for the PGA Tour after failing last November at the Korn Ferry Tour cards in Savannah, Georgia.

This season, the Drômois will also seek to make appearances on the most prestigious professional circuits, in particular on the Korn Ferry Tour. In Florida, he will also play the qualification for the Astara Chile Classic, which will take place from March 30 to April 2 in Santiago de Chile, after having played the qualification for the Puerto Rico Open. Like Jérémy Gandon, Cyril Bouniol did not manage to obtain a right to play during the access cards to the Korn Ferry Tour from November 4 to 7 last. In case of qualification of the three blues, there would therefore be 4 French in the running in this tournament with the Franco-American, Martin Trainer, already qualified for the Puerto Rico Open.
