Comment from Europe 14: The Hippocrene and Haubrok Foundations meet in Paris
Thoughts that breathe du October 6 to December 18, 2015, the Hippocrène and Haubrok Foundations meet in Paris for “Propos d'Europe 14”
“Thoughts that Breathe”, the poetic title of the exhibition, invites contemplation in this sober and calm place that is the former agency of architect Robert Mallet-Stevens in the 16th arrondissement, headquarters of the Hippocrene Foundation. For the 14 th edition of “Propos d'Europe”, the Hippocrene Foundation represented by Michèle Guyot-Roze receives another Foundation that of Berlin collectors Barbara and Axel Haubrok who offer a choice of 4 European artists Carol Bove, Martin Boyce, Bojan Šarčević and Markus Schinwald thus responds to the founding themes of Hippocrene, whose vocation is to promote the circulation of European artists and make their work visible.
The exhibition of the works, in interaction with the architecture leaves an impression of melancholy calm, they blend in with the place steeped in modern history and harmonize with autumn, whose pale light contributes to a subtle staging. . The common thread of the artists exhibited seems to be a questioning around the notions and interactions between art and historical architecture which is here relevantly provoked by the confrontation of the works and the place imbued with the personality of Robert Mallet-Stevens and which makes of the exhibition a providential encounter.
This private initiative illustrates another type of circulation of works put forward by the major contemporary art fairs, in fact Barbara and Axel Haubrok are building a collection based on their love of art, without advice or particular speculation, in all independence.
The proposed set makes this private Fiac route a sensitive meeting of high quality.
This exhibition is part of the private tour of the Fiac 2015
