Philippe Heuzé, author of the book "Around the world in 80 golf courses" passionate about South Africa, created this extraordinary pro-am 13 years ago.

The quality and diversity of the courses are such in South Africa that they allow each year to rethink the event so that each edition is a summit of its kind, a unique moment.

This year will be in the spotlight of playing fields worthy of the greatest tournaments in the world, the courses of Pinnacle Point and its spectacular views of the Indian Ocean, Montagu, icon of Fancourt, The Links just as formidable as the great courses of Scotland and Leopard Creek in the heart of Kruger National Park.

First course and first round: PINNACLE POINT by Philippe Heuzé

I had heard of the Pinnacle Point golf project for years, so much so that like many others I didn't even believe it!

And then, when I arrived on the shores of Mossel Bay in January 2009, and our minibus started to take a private road which meandered through vague spaces on the edge of the cliff, I understood that I was arriving in a site as scenic as that of Cape Kidnappers in New Zealand!

Because Pinnacle Point is of the same caliber in terms of panorama.

Here I took "full eyes" on almost each of the holes drawn by Peter Matkovitch; and as, regularly on this style of course, I tried to play a few good shots, I watched the permanent show and accepted the almost 3-figure score!

If the wind blows, Pinnacle Point will quickly become very problematic, so don't forget a sizable supply of balls and feast on the sights offered by this South African masterpiece, considered among the most scenic courses in the world.
