Among the 90 golf courses in Portugal, it is Porto Santo that was named second best golf course by the Golf Digest ranking. This ranking compares each year the golf courses of 206 countries in the world.

This new consecration is in line with the two other awards recently obtained by Madeira: "Best island destination in Europe" in October 2017 and "Best island destination in the world" in December 2017 (prizes awarded by the World Travel Awards).

Designed by champion Severiano Ballesteros, the Porto Santo golf course crosses the island from the dunes to steep basalt cliffs. It offers a perfect combination of the natural beauty of the setting and a stimulating game.

Its design was made in such a way as to marry the natural forms of the landscape, while paying great attention to its impact on the environment.

This 18-hole par-72 stretches over 6 meters. It is characterized by two distinct spaces. The South course takes up the American tradition. It is dotted with lakes and requires a long and precise game. The North course has been developed at the top of the fantastic cliffs of the island.

Golf has a par-9 3-hole course "Pitch-and-putt" ideal for training, as well as the possibility of getting around by cart. The club house is a success of architectural modernity, which blends harmoniously into the landscape, with its limestone walls, natural wood and modern wicker furnishings. The infrastructure includes a sauna, jacuzzi and golf shop.

The island of Porto Santo is, with Madeira, the only inhabited island of the archipelago. Located 40 km from the main island, it offers an ideal setting for recharging your batteries. Its 9 km long beach benefits from fine golden sand, the therapeutic virtues of which are renowned internationally. In addition to the beach, visitors have access to a variety of activities, such as hiking, golf, water sports and exploring the rich history of Porto Santo.
