Annika Sorenstam has revealed the names of the seven players of the European squad who will face the United States in the 11th PING Junior Solheim Cup. The event will take place September 1-2 at the Sylvania Country Club in Toledo, Ohio.

The seven players announced by captain Annika Sörenstam are Danish Amalie Leth-Nissen, French Constance Fouillet, German Paula Schulz-Hanßen, Spanish pair Andrea Revuelta and Cayetana Fernandez and Swedish duo Meja Örtengren and Nora Sundberg.

The qualification system for this year's PING Junior Solheim Cup was updated in January 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the significant impact it has had on the safety and lives of everyone in worldwide.

With travel restrictions impacting participation in the qualifying process, the team was selected based on a number of factors, including performance in the original PING Junior Solheim Cup qualifying tournaments, performance in other national and international tournaments, the rankings, the comments of the national coaches and those of captain Sörenstam.

Sörenstam, who has competed in the Solheim Cup eight times, said: “The past two years have been strange with Covid, which means many European national teams haven't been able to travel and the girls haven't had as many opportunities to play. Former LET member Nora Angehrn, who is coach of the Swiss national women's golf team, will be the vice-captain of the European team.

The PING Junior Solheim Cup, which was inaugurated in 2002, is designed to give young golfers on both sides of the Atlantic the opportunity to gain international experience in match play, while meeting and sharing experiences with professional Solheim Cup players.

Many stars competed in the PING Junior Solheim Cup before excelling in the Solheim Cup.
