The sun was shining, the heat a little less for this 2016 Opal Coast Pro-Am. From April 27th to 30th, 376 participants (one pro and three amateurs) rubbed shoulders with four of the most beautiful regional routes: WImereux, Le Touquet (sea route), Belle-Dune and Hardelot. A great success for Christophe Cantegrel, who has been organizing this now essential event in the French golfing landscape for twenty-two years.

20160314_23eProAmInternationalCotedOpal_01Among the pros, it is the former winner of the French Open in 2003, the Englishman Philip Golding, who returned the best cumulative score (-8). The 94 pros present for the occasion being assured of a minimum allocation of 650 euros. The pro-am victory went to Alan Pivaty's team in net and that of Alexis Anghert in gross.

Every evening, during a prize-giving ceremony at the Palais des Congrès in Le Touquet, many gifts were awarded to the winning teams on each of the four courses. But also to the winner of the drive competition for hole 11 at Le Touquet and those of the precision competition organized on the par 3s of Belle Dune (hole 12), Hardelot (no 5) and Wimereux (no 10). Without forgetting, for the others, some pretty consolation prizes drawn by lot: stays in Reunion, Mauritius, Morocco or Spain have thus made some lucky few forget their guitars, their tops, their commas and their bogeys of the day.

See you next year, for the 24th edition of the Opal Coast Pro-Am, from April 26 to 29, 2017. Knowing that at the French Open, it is Jean-François Remesy who succeeded to Philip Golding on the charts ...
