At the PGA Championship, Brooks Koepka won his fifth grand slam trophy on Sunday by triumphing for the third time in this event. The American wins ahead of Scottie Scheffler and Viktor Hovland by two shots. Victor Perez, the only Frenchman entered, finished in the top 20 in a very respectable 12th place.

Brooks Koepka laid the foundations for his success early in his game by birdying three consecutive holes (holes 2, 3 and 4) to take a three-shot (-9) lead over Viktor Hovland. However, he got his first scare at 6 with a deflected tee shot that ended up out of bounds, resulting in a bogey. Another difficulty came on the 11th when he found himself embedded in a bunker on the lip, but he made a masterful outing regardless, even though he needed two putts to finish with a bogey. Despite a brief comeback from Hovland on hole 14, Koepka never gave his opponent the chance to take the lead, following up with an immediate birdie to regain his comfortable distance.

Finally, Viktor Hovland had to give in after having shone with his little game and having shown himself to be solid in putting as rarely. His misfortune on the 16th hole forced him to share second place with Scottie Scheffler, both finishing at -7. Although he stayed behind throughout the day, without really being in contention for victory, Scottie Scheffler showed great solidity (-5 for the last lap). He thus finished very close to the ultimate goal and accumulated valuable points in the race for the top of the world rankings, especially since Jon Rahm finished very far, in 50th place. Cameron Davis, Kurt Kitayama and Bryson DeChambeau, who have never really been in the race for the podium, shared fourth place with a score of -3.

Good finish from Victor Perez who finished in the 12the place, he is now certain to participate in the PGA Championship 2024 as well as the upcoming US Open. Plus, he's getting closer to getting a full-time card on the PGA Tour for the next season. Above all, this performance will allow the French golfer to regain a very favorable position in the Ryder Cup rankings.
