The high thresholds, short overhangs and the exterior spare wheel of the new Defender make it easy to conquer any terrain. Its materials, both elementary and sophisticated, testify to the strength of character of the 4 × 4.

The new Defender is offered in two models 90 and 110, with ideal proportions, which share the same short overhangs, with six versions available: Defender, S, SE, HSE, Defender X and First Edition.

Customers can also choose from the widest range of accessories ever offered by Land Rover, including the four accessory packs: Explorer, Adventure, Country and Urban.

These additional packs have been designed to offer even more customization choices, and each have their reasons to appeal. They demonstrate the ability of the new Defender to adapt to all types of personalities without compromising the integrity of the base vehicle.

“We have expressed our vision of the modern Defender. Its smooth sides contrast with the verticality of its front face but especially of the rear. All this gives it a calm and functional look. Overall, its design is quite minimalist, however, this simplicity is counterbalanced by sophisticated materials of the highest quality. "

The Defender's characteristic front panel is both powerful and reassuring, thanks in particular to the geometric shape of its headlights, which incorporate the latest technologies. The superbly sculpted wings, as well as the square wheel arches and the broad “shoulders” further accentuate its muscular and elegant silhouette.

The unique geometric shape of the high-tech taillights harmonizes perfectly with the front design.

The verticality of the rear of the Defender and its short overhang give it an excellent angle of departure, while optimizing its interior space and accentuating its stature.

Every detail of the exterior design of the new Defender has been expertly redesigned to be true to its DNA: sophisticated, durable and extremely robust; one of a kind design.

“For us designers, there is nothing like redesigning a great automotive icon. The design of the new Defender is a testament to our modernist styling philosophy, both minimalist and highly sophisticated. "

Exterior finishes

Land Rover has specially developed a selection of exterior colors for the new Defender. Much of the bodywork is visible in the passenger compartment; the colors are thus visible, both inside and outside.

On the X version, the Gloss Black contrast mesh hood and Gloss Black coverings are standard. And to further differentiate the X version from the rest of the range, the front and rear skid plates as well as other exterior elements receive a Starlight Satin finish.

Satin protective film

The new Defender is the very first Land Rover offered with a satin protective film that protects and embellishes the bodywork.

This polyurethane-based protective film is factory applied to the bodywork and gives the standard metallic paint a satin and elegant appearance, perfectly showcasing the exterior design materials.

This durable film meets rigorous manufacturing standards and has been designed to withstand extreme conditions.

It can be removed in order to be repaired, which makes it more practical than a traditional coating. It is available in Indus Silver, Gondwana Stone and Pangea Green colors. It does not contain solvents or volatile organic compounds (VOCs).

12 different rims are available, ranging from 18-inch white pressed steel rims to 22-inch Luna alloy rims.

Three new Defender-specific metallic shades - Tasman Blue, Pangea Green and Gondwana Stone - join the existing color palette: Fuji White, Eiger Gray, Santorini Black and Indus Silver.

Constructivist interior design

The interior architecture of the Defender, modular and constructivist, emphasizes its highly versatile nature. Added to this is its intelligent configuration and sleek design.

A character which is expressed in particular by its lacquered magnesium cross member, visible and essential for the rigidity of the bodywork. Molded in a magnesium alloy, it is available in several finishes and has integrated handles to help climb up but also serve as grips in case of rough off-road driving.

The main controls, including the central touchscreen, are integrated into the magnesium frame, leaving room for the front center seat (optional) and facilitating movement in the cabin.

Functionality is at the heart of the interior design of Land Rover vehicles, and the new Defender is thus offered with a multitude of storage spaces, including high and low center consoles.

The constructivist spirit is recurrent in the passenger compartment with visible door fixings partially revealing the bodywork.

This philosophy extends to floor mats which, rubberized, easily resist stains for easy cleaning. Other details include cast magnesium elements as well as door tops, interior handles and padded armrests.

The innovative central front seat allows three people to sit in the front of the vehicle. Designed and designed as an occasional seat, this practical addition allows the Defender 110 to offer five, six or 5 + 2 seats, while the shorter wheelbase Defender 90 can seat six occupants without being longer than a family sedan. compact. When not in use, the central seat can be folded down to serve as an armrest and storage compartment, in addition to integrating two cup holders.

“We were looking to bring the adventurous and conquering spirit of the Defender into the interior. The result is a comfortable and harmonious interior at first glance, offering functionality and the guarantee of being able to face all types of adversity. "

Alan sheppard
Director, Interior Design, Land Rover

The new Defender is nonetheless comfortable, with interior materials designed to withstand all tests even after thousands of kilometers. Customers have the choice of three color schemes for the interior, in addition to the different finish options for further customization.

Standard Defender models feature Resolve textiles, while S and SE versions are offered with grained leather, combined with more durable Microfiber Robust Woven textiles in areas most prone to wear. no longer using recycled polyester). This robust and particular material pays homage to the convertible tops of the first Land Rover Series.

The HSE versions include high-quality Windsor leather, while the Defender X is upholstered in Windsor leather combined with a Steelcut Premium textile which increases its durability. This high-end textile from the Kvadrat brand contains 30% wool. It is also possible to completely replace the leather coverings thanks to an interior combining Miko suede with the Steelcut Premium textile. Wool, which is more resistant, is an ideal material for keeping passengers at a pleasant temperature: warm when it is cold and cool when it is hot. These textiles thus guarantee optimal comfort around the world.

Customers can also choose from a wide range of woodwork and finishes, including raw walnut or dark Natural Smoked oak woodwork, both in a textured finish for a better feel. The visible structure is available in Dark Gray Powder Coat Brushed finish, for the X model, and Light Gray Powder Coat Brushed finish, on the main Defender models. A White Powder Coat Brushed option is also available.

“Achieving that balance of soft touch and toughness has been our goal when designing the new Defender's premium, modern aesthetic, inside and out. We played the innovation card by trying new development methods, pushing the boundaries of traditional manufacturing techniques and adapting existing technologies. "

Amy Frascella
Director, Color and Materials, Land Rover

“The different versions of the new Defender offer a wealth of character, a modern and functional design and present themselves as a family of attractive and exciting vehicles. "
