Nike, the American equipment supplier, announced on Wednesday its decision to stop the production of golf clubs, bags and balls.

"We are determined to continue to be the undisputed leader in golf apparel and shoes," said Trevor Edwards, president of the Nike brand, in a statement.

The announcements come after Nike posted an 8,2% drop to $ 706 million in sales of golf equipment in June in fiscal 2016 which ended in late May. It is the sport discipline having achieved the worst financial performance.
