Young world No.1 Lydia Ko has pledged to donate the winnings she wins at the Fort Worth Open which begins on Thursday to help victims of the earthquake that hit Nepal on Saturday.

The New Zealander Lydia Ko World No. 1, is committed to the victims of Nepal by offering her winnings from the Fort Worth Open which begins next Thursday in Texas, the scene of a violent earthquake on Saturday. “When I heard the news about Nepal, it made me very unhappy. A few years ago New Zealand experienced a similar drama that touched many people. We can't do much against natural disasters, it's difficult to be prepared for this kind of event, but I thought to myself that I could help the population financially with my earnings this week ”explained the prodigy 18 years old. The youngest world No. 1 in golf history has already won two titles this season, including the San Francisco Open last Sunday.

5.057 people have been killed in Nepal since the 7,8 magnitude earthquake on Saturday and about 8.000 people injured. According to the UN, eight of the 28 million inhabitants of this country were affected by the disaster.
