After weeks of tussle and controversy, the time has come for the first Liv Series tournament in London. Phil Mickelson will therefore be present for this tournament despite his statements made on the Saudi regime. He will start alongside other stars such as Dustin Johnson, Graeme McDowell and Martin Kaymer.

The winner of the 2020 Masters will be surprisingly present this week in London, just like Kevin Na who announced this week is resigning from the PGA Tour. A first victory for these emblematic players of the PGA Tour having decided to trace a new path, is the decision of the USGA (United States Golf Association), which manages among other things the US Open, which announced authorizing players playing for this new circuit, to participate in the US Open if they were eligible.

The participation of Dustin Johnson remains the most surprising him who has already lost his sponsor RBC, sponsor of the tournament face to face on the calendar with the Liv Series of London.

Dustin Johnson and Phil Mickelson had said they wanted to take part in future majors despite their participation in the Liv Series and hoped that the American body would make this decision. One question is still unanswered: what will the Ryder Cup authorities decide? Indeed many Ryder Cup players or possible future captains and vice-captains will be present in London: Graeme McDowell, Martin Kaymer, Ian Poulter or Lee Westwood.

Graeme McDowell: “Compared to the Ryder Cup, it was something that weighed a lot before I made the decision to come here. I hope that this choice will not affect (a possible selection) in any way”.

To the delight of fans, the event will be broadcast on Youtube and on the official website livgolf.com.
