Manon Gidali is happy to have during this period of confinement the company of her boyfriend and her two cats, Watson and Sherlock.

An unconditional animal friend, the 26-year-old Parisian does her best to stay busy, but when it comes to golf, indoor putting is the only exercise available to her after five weeks of confinement in her small Parisian apartment.

"It's difficult, because I don't have the chance that many girls have to be able to train and in particular to strike in their lessons or their garden, because I am limited by the space of my small apartment, therefore I was only able to train on my putting mat. I do a few swings every day indoors, but I can't really hit a ball. I try to have good feelings of my swing, but it remains limited! »Declared Manon Gidali

Containment is strict in France and means residents are only allowed to jog for an hour a day within a one-kilometer radius. Manon runs half-hour errands around her building once a week and rethinks new ways to exercise indoors.

“Every other day I try to do a cardio workout. It's called Taba, once a week on Facetime with my coach, then once a week on my own. You perform a 20 second workout exercise, then take 10 seconds of rest. You do each exercise eight times out of a total of six sets, so it's a 40 minute workout and you get pretty high cardio levels. "

“In the evening, I do a Yoga or Pilates session on Instagram live, with my friends on Facetime. It sounds strange, but it's easier to do it together. "

“I also cooked. Usually I don't have time for this. I made lasagna, curry, gratins dauphinois, as well as cakes like banana bread and chocolate cakes. "

“Unfortunately, I couldn't see my little Beagle, Choupy, since she lives with my parents, but what I miss most is just being able to go out, sit down, have a coffee and loosen. I am a city dweller and when I am at home I love to walk around Paris, visit museums, go shopping and stop for a coffee. The weather has been beautiful, it's last few days and it's hard not to be outside. "

Manon Gidali returned from Cape Town (South Africa) to Paris on March 17, the day the confinement came into force in France, after obtaining her best career place on the LET, tied for 4th at the Investec South African Women's Open. After three contested tournaments, she is in 14th place in the Race to Costa del Sol.

"I'm really happy to have played in Australia and South Africa because it gave me a good ranking and I knew things were bad in Europe"said Manon Gidali

“I was in Abu Dhabi when a Pro-Am was called off, so I knew the Investec South African Women's Open would probably be my last tournament for a while, but I didn't think it would be that difficult. I thought it would last about a month and everything would go back to normal and we could play again in May. "

“I'm happy to have finished the way I did because it was on a good note and that gives me hope for the rest of the season. "

President Emmanuel Macron extended national confinement until May 11, followed by a gradual reopening of schools.

Manon Gidali usually trains at RCF La Boulie in Versailles and at Golf National and hopes that there will be a way to access the training facilities in the future, although there is currently no precision on the terms of recovery.
