However, the young 28-year-old woman from Schilde is determined to take advantage of the coming months to consolidate her recent successes and be in an even better position when the Olympic Games are held in July and August 2021.

Manon, second in LET's Race To Costa Del Sol after three top 10s at the Geoff King Motors Australian Ladies Classic Bonville, the Women's New South Wales Open and the Investec South African Women's Open, remembers her goal every day. Due to the Olympic golf competition, she is one of the few players to have obtained a special exemption from the Belgian Golf Federation to play despite the current lockdown due to Covid-19.

Manon de Roey is a triple winner in the LET Access Series, at the WPGA International Challenge 2018 and 2019 and at the Santander Golf Tour LETAS Valencia 2019.

Today, in her third season on LET, her results have steadily improved year on year and last month she recorded a career-best second place finish at the Women's New South Wales Open. at Dubbo Golf Club, where she scored 64, the lowest of her career.

The second longest driver on the tour attributes his improvements to working with his trainer Michel van Meerbek, who also coaches European Tour players Nicolas Colsaerts and Thomas Detry.

“I changed coaches two years ago and I swing more effectively now. It's through a combination of that and physical training ”said Manon de Roey.

“I work on very specific exercises for golf, using the right muscles in a chain and it's quite complicated and difficult, actually! "

“I'm doing my physical training by video chat right now because I can't see my coaches. We are not allowed to see anyone, so we must use technology. "

“I have had my trainer on video conference twice this week and I do a few exercises myself the other days. I already had body aches every day of the week. "

In addition to golf, Manon completed puzzles and mountain biking on forest trails near her home, which replaced the weekly squash matches with her brother.

“I don't like to train too much and I prefer to play tournaments, so I always train, but it's not the same. It's difficult to live in uncertainty ”, she said.

"I think everyone should realize that the threat of coronavirus is real and stay at home. Together we can solve this problem. Everyone has to follow the rules and I think we will come out strong and healthy together. "
