Lucie André won the first round of the Santander Golf Tour in GIRONA, as part of the LET's Access Series 2023, after completing a final lap of 70, a score lower than the day before, to end up win in a five-man play-off.

The 35-year-old, from Bourg-en-Bresse, France, entered the final round tied for eighth, six shots off the lead, after completing rounds of 72 on the opening two rounds.

Lucie André made three birdies (6th, 15th and 17th holes) and two consecutive bogeys (10th and 11th holes) during the third round.

After two holes in the play-off, Sweden's Emma Thorngren and Switzerland's Sofie Kibsgaard Nielsen were eliminated after both making bogeys. England rookie Emily Price was the third player to be eliminated.

In breathtaking fashion, Lucie André managed a bogey to win against the Dutch Marit Harryvan.

« When I play a play-off, I play my own game. I don't play against those who play against me“said Andre.

“I made sure to play smart and make a par or less, but a par is good for the 18th hole, where we played the playoff. »,

« My game has been pretty solid, to be honest. I hit a lot of greens and a lot of fairways. Putting has had some ups and downs. I was very consistent off the tees, so that was good. »

It's Andre's first trip to the winner's circle on LETAS since the 2017 Foxconn Czech Ladies Challenge, but his plan for the season hasn't changed.

She added:  "I'm just going to play a tournament and see how it goes. To be honest, I don't have any goals for the season. I just want to finish as high as possible.

“It's always great to win and it's even better when you have a play-off, because you feel the victory more intensely. »

The Santander Golf Tour-GIRONA was played at Golf Peralada and André paid tribute to the course and the event, a new tournament on LETAS.

“I like the Santander tournaments, because the golf courses are always nice and it's a good mix with the LET Access Series. »

Other players to finish in the top 10 include Spain's Teresa Diez Moliner, who narrowly missed the play-offs and finished sixth at two over par.

Italy's Clara Manzalini and Thursday leader Elena Moosmann finished the tournament tied for seventh with a score of three over par.

Fellow Spaniard Elia Folch tied for eighth, while Scotland's Hannah McCook and Lianna Bailey tied for tenth place respectively.

The next tournament in the LET Access Series is the Terre Blanche Ladies Open, taking place April 13-15 at Golf de Terre Blanche in France.
