Battling a lack of confidence since the start of the 2017 season, Feng received the necessary boost with his first victory of 2017 on Sunday at the LPGA Volvik Championship at Travis Pointe Country Club. She set a new scoring record of (-20), previously won twice by Minjee Lee and Sung Hyun Park. Jeong Eun Lee and Lizette Salas finished in fourth place with (-17).

"I was trying to win the tournament from the start and I'm happy I did"said Feng after his turn. “I'm really happy I got this win because I've had six wins on the LPGA Tour so far, but only two in the United States. So, I'm really happy that I'm not only playing well in Asia, but also in the United States, and very happy that a lot of Chinese have come today to support me. "

After an incredible season in 2016 that saw him win the bronze medal at the Olympic Games in Rio, followed by back-to-back wins in the Swing Through Asia event, Feng's expectations were high for 2017. With a top 10 and a missed cut in her first five starts, Feng felt she was losing control of her game. With a few new wedges in his bag and a few tweaks to his swing, Feng has finished in the top-10 in his last two starts before heading to Michigan. The world ranked 7th player was starting to feel like herself and showed it this week in Michigan. This week, Feng completed four rounds of under 70 to win his seventh victory in the LPGA tournament.

Feng is not the type to look at the leaderboards. As she extended her lead to four points during the day, she was unaware that Minjee Lee was racing the standings. Lee made five birdies in a six-hole pass to cut Feng's thread and when Feng made a bogey in the 16th hole, Lee was two points behind the lead. But Lee was looking at the leaderboard.

I was like, 'Oh, I'm four strokes behind with two holes left. So I tried to play and make as many birdies as I could on the last two holes. I did it " said Lee to the media.

Lee missed an opportunity to birdie on the 72nd hole when she sent her ball well to the left of the grandstand. It wasn't until hitting the 72nd hole that she turned to the scoreboard again and realized she was two strokes away. Lee made an incredible up and down move to make a 65 (-7) bogeyless card. This is his third top 3 of 2017.
